Our honest feedback
A very interesting First Person Horror game influenced by the horror stories of Lovecraft, where you are playing as a sailor inside a battleship where after a nightmare we woke up all alone.
The player need then to research the ship trying to find clues for that what have happened to the crew and trying to escape.
The overall mood of the game is very well achieved, although the game visuals and resolutions that have been chosen are focused in creating an old school horror game, remanescentes of the Alone in the Dark first games. Sometimes it become difficult to understand what is happening in the game because, it is not very easy to see the overall details.
We have also some difficulties trying to understand what where the puzzles that we needed to solve to progress, which the short time frame that we try to get on these examples, made us almost impossible to progress to far in the game.
The game can be found on itch.io

Our honest feedback
The game has a really cool concept and it is very fun to try to understand how to control the crazy game mechanic to take the shotgun to the flag without going crazy firing in all directions.
The controls are simple and intuitive, and it doesn't take long to control the movements of the shotgun, although mastering it as to make it go where you want is something totally different. Especially without ruining your stats.
The game is still under construction, is very short and have some annoying bugs like where the shotgun gets through the walls.
But certainly it is a very fun game to play.
The game demo can be found on itch.io

FLAX GAME ENGINE #00 : Features review and TEST DRIVE
Welcome to a possible new serie of tutorials on a new game engine that has reached its version 1.0 and that is looking rather promising from a point of view of quality, features and performance.
The engine is FLAX ENGINE, an engine that has been in development for the last 5 years from a team based in Poland. This week, version 1.0 has been released and we decided to take a new look at it, since the last time that we had seen it, was about 1 year ago, and it was still somewhat green.
The engine is now much more stable and very performant and with a very interesting and promising development pipeline. You can not only program in C++ or C# but you have also visual scripting in a way that looks very similar to Unreal 4.

Our honest feedback
Well there isn´t much to what we could say about a game that is one of the best references about the real possibilities of GDevelop, and developed by probably one of the best creators of tutorials for the engine it self, Wish Forge.
The game is really impressive from a visual and sound point of view. The animations are really cute and really fulfills their role of getting you into the game.
The gameplay itself, because of being based on physics, have some level of randomness that takes time to adapt. The different mechanics are correctly aligned with the different objectives of the games, and makes it a very pleasant experience to try progressing forward, even when dying over and over game.
If we have to put something negative, it would be about the usage of the some of the blocks and there color references that in some occasions are somewhat confusing, as you had wood blocks that you can interact with, and others that are part of the level and that you can touch.
Also, the progression of the game, even considering the tutorial, is somewhat hard, as the game challenges presented to the player are growing in complexity faster than the ability to actually control the different possibilities of interaction with the game elements.
But as said, this one of the best examples of GDevelop game that you will be able to find currently.
You can find more information on the game webpage, with the web version

As seen in the previous video where we compared Construct 3 with Gdevelop 5, while in Construct 3 implementing a double jump was straightforward because of the platformer behaviour delivered with Construct; in Gdevelop is not as easy if you want something that you can control, it requires to implement events.
In this tutorial, we will learn how to implement a double jump with Gdevelop 5.

HOW TO SELF PUBLISH YOUR INDIE GAME: from start to end
Are you an aspiring game developer with a great idea for an indie game? Want to self-publish your game and get it out to the world? Well, you're in luck! Today, we're going to walk you through the 12 steps to self-publish your indie game, from start to finish.
Step 1: Speed up your stage of thinking of ideas
The first step is to speed up your stage of thinking of ideas. It can take a lot of time to develop a good idea, but there are ways to speed up the process. Find out about market trends, mix popular elements from the same or different genres, and don't forget to keep clarity, satisfaction, and fun in mind.
Step 2: Make sure your testing stage works well
The next step is to make sure your testing stage works well. Test every one of your ideas, how fun it could be to play, all inside a controlled environment, and keep working on good ideas until you get the results you want.
Step 3: Prepare your ideas for a soft launch
Once you've passed the first set of tests, it's time to prepare your ideas for a soft launch. Keep up with trends, check out different network specs, try again and again, and get people involved.
Step 4: Know how you're doing
Step 4 is to know how you're doing. Track key metrics such as retention, playtime, IMPU, ARPU, and LTV, and make sure your level structure is the best for your game.
Step 5: Addressing player's feedback
t's important to take into consideration what players are saying about your game. Listen to feedback and consider how to make changes and updates to improve the player experience. This could include fixing bugs, addressing balance issues, adding new content, and more. By listening to your players and addressing their concerns, you can help ensure that your game is as enjoyable and successful as possible.
Step 6: Continuous iteration
Step 6 is continuous iteration. Self-publishing a game is not a one-and-done process, always be open to testing new features, making changes and improvements.
Step 7: Get more people to play
Step 7 is to get more people to play. Reach more players and grow your player base by marketing and promoting, networking, building a community, incentivizing players to invite friends, analyzing metrics and mobile app store optimization.
Step 8: Legal considerations
Step 8 is to take care of legal considerations, such as securing licenses and protecting your game's intellectual property, and complying with laws and regulations related to video games.
Step 9: Localization
Step 9 is localization, translating your game into different languages and adapting it to different cultural norms and expectations for different regions.
Step 10: Quality Assurance (QA)
Step 10 is Quality Assurance, making sure your game is stable, functional, and has no bugs, hiring a QA team or outsourcing this task is recommended.
Step 11: Establishing a pricing strategy
Step 11 is to establish a pricing strategy, deciding how you're going to monetize your game.
Step 12: Support and maintenance
Step 12 is support and maintenance, providing ongoing support and updates, dealing with player complaints and concerns.
With these steps in mind, you'll have a clear idea of the process of self-publishing your indie game. Keep in mind that this is a continuous process that should be adapted to the changes of the market and feedback from players. Remember to enjoy the process, and good luck!

Gdevelop FREE VISUAL Game Engine: MELEE COMBAT SYSTEM
Welcome to a new tutorial on G Develop. For those that are not regular watchers of our tutorials, we have a long run series on building a Contra Like game with G Develop. And when facing some difficulties with a specific part to the engine, we usually complement it with a focused tutorial.
In this case, we are not actually focusing in a problem, but rather starting also to answer to the community requests. In this particular, one of our community members asked us for a MELEE COMBAT SYSTEM Tutorial.
As a bonus, in the tutorial, we touch some important points like dealing with the resizing of pixel art assets in Gdevelop without losing quality.
Level design with Gdevelop.
This is the first part of the tutorial. Will make another episode with different types of enemies, and then focusing also on block, avoidance and knockbacks, plus of course visual effects.
Stay tune, and don´t forget to subscribe, it will certainly support us.

Since we think, that more than doing what we like, we should fulfill the expectations of the people that watch us, and since the request was actually shorter than others, we have decided to make it.
Next in our list, after ending the CONTRA tutorial are:
- Adventure Game
- Metroidvania.
If you have a specific request, in GDevelop or in other engines, don´t hesitate to ask us, and we will try our best to include it in our pipeline of content.
For the this specific tutorial, we have used the following resources:
