Anime Fried Chicken back once again with another Demon Slayer : Kimetsu no Yaiba discussion video. I hope you guys are well.
In this video we are going to cast aside what we know of the Demon Slayer story and continuity, and ask ourselves, what if Tanjirou was the one that was turned into a demon on that fateful night?
As a premise, it isn’t too far fetched, Nezuko is the second eldest sibling in the Kamado family. Perhaps Tanjirou caught a cold and Nezuko offered to head into town to sell coal that day. Returning late, she is warned of the dangers of travelling through the mountains at night, This is a world in which Demons exist would you believe. Nezuko waits untill day break and heads back to the Kamado household only to find, a massacre. All of them - slaughtered. Tanjirou is the only one showing signs of life, barely warm. Racing down the mountain with Tanjirou on her back, as quickly as she can barely manage, she needs to get to a doctor. Ice grasping her lungs, she can barely breathe as she struggles down the mountain, until he wakes up. Fangs, clawlike fingernails, slit pupils were his round ones used to be.
Ok guys you get it - you know the story from here. But how would Nezuko fair as a Demon Slayer? Would Tanjirou be able to keep his composure as a demon? Let’s get into it.
Nezuko and Tanjirou’s defense against Giyuu would likely play out identical as it has done in the main story. Nezuko has been shown to think quickly in battle and would be just as competent as Tanjirou. Tanjirou’s unconditional sibling love for Nezuko would have him guarding her from Giyuu and he would proceed to send the letter of Recommendation to Urokodaki.
We’ve seen over and over again Nezuko’s tenacity in combat, and her readiness to suffer wounds to protect Tanjirou. She would persevere through the training set by Urokodaki, earn his respect and be taught the ways of Breath of Water. At this point Tanjirou’s empathetic nature would keep him on the same course as main story nezuko, with him being a friendly demon, abstaining from human flesh and chilling in his recovery coma.
I would like to think that Nezuko would complete the sparring battle with Sabito & boulder training quicker than Tanjirou had. Throughout the anime and manga, Tanjirou always has always undergone training montages and mini arcs to achieve powerups. Demon Nezuko acquired similar boosts in strength, and always managed to do so, just in the heat of the battle, when it was absolutely necessary - no silly shounen training scenes.
Where she outclasses Tanjirou here, her more glaring weakness would be that she doesn’t

In two weeks time I will be Tokyo. Watching the Made In Abyss film in a movie theatre. It will be glorious. So logically speaking if you were in my shoes you would wait until you’ve finished the movie to read the manga, right?
There’s no way you would spend 4 hours yesterday powering through the series only to spoil yourself for the film, right?? Balls. Yikes. Oof. Best four hours I’ve ever spent doing anything.
I’ve seen made in abyss, you’ve seen made in abyss, and sometime soon we’ll have both seen the made in abyss movie. So Anime Fried Chicken, how are we next going to get our fill of guro loli fantasy horror delving?
Why the manga of course. Everyone needs to jump on the manga right funking now.
Though trigger warning, the anime portion of the series was a light hearted fun introduction to the world, just dipping it’s toes in your proverbial soul to see how far it can push you.
The movie’s content isn’t as gentle and goes a little further, pressing the boundaries somewhere between gruesome and grotesque. And the subsequent arc, likely to be encapsulated as season 2, keeps on the same trend as a “oh god what am I watching, please make it stop, kill it with all the fire”.
But you will recover. The manga release schedule is sparse with months between chapters. Your wounds will heal and hopefully thoughts of the latest chapter will be you cherishing memories of excellent world building slowly uncovered with each new segment of the story, or the disgustingly cute character designs of new cast constantly being introduced. And conversely not focusing on the harrowing madness in the shadows, and sometimes forefront of most chapters.
It’s not even just sickening plot reveals that makes you question the sanity of the author. But rather a constant baseline level of eeriness and discomfort that inhabits levels 5, 6 and 7 of the abyss. A nagging feeling of, how can this possibly get any worse? And then it does.
It’s everything the anime is and was, just a little deeper and darker.
Facing reality, the likelihood of us getting more animated made in abyss after the movie, this year in 2020, is a slim to none. Best case it feels like early to mid 2021 for season 2, or a follow up movie. And as the current arc following the movie is just wrapping up, there has never been a better time to binge the manga.
So what I’m saying is pre-book a session with you favorite psychiatrist for tomorrow, and get stuck into Made in Abyss, today.

Screw you skull knight, can you just be a little less cryptic with your scraggly-ass type font, riddle talking, behelits like pickled eggs eatin’ nonsense.
And what's with this endless chase to confirm that he is indeed king Gaiseric ay? Throw us a bone Miura. Goddamn.
So with Skull knight finally he throws us this banger:
“Causality is yet to converge.” Are you kidding me? The great roar of the astral world causing the entire planet to become an interstice is a pretty big convergence to me, and ol’ bonesy is telling us there’s more to come? Well yeah that sounds pretty berserk actually.
This is all Probably insinuating another temporal juncture is coming up to shunt the story along. Hopefully this will tie into a larger exposition dump and flash back for the skull knight.
Perhaps even leading to SK finally slipping from his mortal coil and maybe we’ll see Guts duel wielding with an inherited sword of actuation.
Further on, we see SK, Guts and Gedfring head on down to the rockies to meet with Hannar the blacksmith. With Schieke and Morda flanking as they head through downtown elfhelm.
The trio of heavies arrive and make small talk with Hanarr and we learn that A, Hanarr is a dwarf - cool. B, as well as the berserker armor, hanarr made the skull knights armor. And with a savage, “quiet skull knight you damn fool, you’re just rattling round in your coffin” we can kinda’ assume that SK’s armor is acting as a fettish tearing his soul. Ha I almost said to the mortal plane, but I mean, mortal plane astral plane, it’s all the same hit in the fantasia arc!
For the chapter's closing moments, Hannar struck the armor to flex on mr berserk. He has those shifty eyes implying he knew exactly what was going top happen as the amor started to take over. He’s essentially saying, guts you aint hit. You have NO mastery over this beast.
Now, with Shirke flanking Guts its likely leading into them interactacting next chapter to bring Guts back to sanity, unless the dwarf separates them and can offer instruction on how Guts could operate the armor solo. Because really, Guts is 100% due a powerup so it can at least look competitive while he gets his omelette arse folded by Griffith.

There's just something about Gotouge’s writing in Kimetsu no yaiba.
I’ve talked at length about the relentless bloodshed and her willingness to kill off a substantial character, giving weight and significance to bolster a villain’s level of threat,
or ramp up the theatrical sense of tragedy in a story beat.
But her writing is so much more complex.
It’s like a big manga flavored onion layered with literary devices that keeps it competitive in this world of,
short attention span needing instant gratification seeking shounen e-boys, that still need a crafted world and lore to link it all back to.
So that every derpy sword swing feels contextually rich and relates back to foreshadowed secrets resulting in that dopamine rush as you realize it’s all connected. You know the feeling.
Let’s talk about Muzan, and let’s talk about cyclical or circular narrative. A writing device that throws it alllll the way back. Baby Kibitsuji was dead on arrival and was standing in line for the hottest ride in town, a cremation.
But with something akin to divine intervention he willed himself to life and with a conviction mixing perseverance and the sheer desperation for clinging to life, he lived for over a thousand years. But death was always chasing him.
And this sense of death was a call back to the fiery tongues of the cremation chamber that Muzan had narrowly escaped previously. And although the blazing sun takes a different shape, the circular narrative holds true and Muzan was eventually, incinerated.
I reckon it’d be pretty pertinent to talk about Demon King Tanjiro, all things considered we’ve just had the plot twist of the decade, and he and Nezuko are pretty prominent in the story. And it just so happens we can tie their narrative into a cool genre trans-formative device.
When you think of Hunter x Hunter or Madoka Magica, you may immediately think of them as genre subverting shows, breaking away from shounen battle manga and magical transformation shoujo.
With regards to story AVERSION you may be inclined to think Gainax’s TV ending for Neon Genesis Evangelion, you come away from the screen thinking, wait what did I just watch? Who expected that? And Single handedly dividing the fan community.
But the Nezuko Tanjiro overarching plot line for Demon Slayer has developed into a character and story arc INVERSION.
What once was Human Tanjiro seeking to cure his Demon sister Nezuko,
now has us amidst Demon Tanjiro rampaging with Human Nezuko’s plight to bring back his humanity.

Hold up. First the pandemic took away my social life, and now it’s coming for my manga? Corona virus has gone TOO FAR. Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba chapter 203 and for that matter the entirety of the next weekly shounen jump has been delayed, resulting in a double issue for the following release. For clarity, the delayed issue SHOULD have been on shelves on April 20th, will now be on the back burner, held under lock and key and available for weebs worldwide instead on the 27th. Pretty sucky.
Humanity feared the Demons, Muzan feared the sun, Tamayo’s poisons were moderately effective, but as of right now the Demon Slayer Universe is held tightly in the grips of the Corona Virus. Thoughts and prayers.
In all seriousness, stay at home if you can and save some lives, but in less seriousness, goddamn we have to wait an extra week for a chapter.
And it made me realise just how close to the end we could potentially be with a predicted final chapter of 205, IF they decide to finish the series so that it wraps up in a full tankobon volume, being number 23. That is assuming they keep to the structure of 9 chapters per volume. And usually I would say, urghh no a series doesn’t have to pigeonhole its ending to conform to volume length conventions.
Buttt because of just how much money Demon Slayer has been making through volume sales, topping charts and beating out One Piece time and time again, If they’re looking to not take my timeskip idea onboard (that I have an awesome video on) then yeah, maybe 205 is the Kimetsu no Yaiba expiration date.
For a little more insight at what’s going on right now at Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump HQ, a crunchy roll article states:
The announcement said that due to the health and safety of the staff, work for the entire editorial department of Weekly Shonen Jump has been temporarily suspended while awaiting the results of the PCR test which the 40-year old staff has already taken. The suspension is in consideration of the writers, other staff members, and other related parties who might be involved with the creation of the weekly manga magazine. It was mentioned that the staff member doesn't come into contact with the manga creators of Jump on a regular basis.
They noted that since April 6, the staff of Shueisha (Jump's parent company) has been doing their best with working from home in an effort to combat the spread of the coronavirus. The Japanese government on April 7 declared a State of Emergency for seven prefectures in Japan, including Tokyo, where the Shueisha head office is located and where Weekly Shonen Jump is made.

It feels like forever since the last chapter of Demon slayer. I’ve just been here, rockin’ back and fourth on the cliffhanger, trheorycrafting tanjiro’s fate and wondering how they’re going to bookend kimetsu no yaiba.
And in this bleak post apolytic world we currently find ourselves in, spoilers are a rare commodity, and I’ve got just that for Demon Slayer chapter 203.
Ok saying that, in classic spoiler tradition, these are some scraggly phone pics of pages of the yet to be released weekend’s Jump, so if you want a full breakdown with all the info, I’ll have an in-depth review in the next day or two.
But if you’re as keen as I am, then stick around. I’ll first cover the meat and potatoes for chapter 203, and then finish up with some budget live translating, butchering the author’s vision.
Alright Alright. Before the week delay, we closed out chapter 202 with Kanao activating her eye technique, dashing in, injecting Tanjiro with the cure, getting slashed, and then fading to black.
Did she die? Did it work? Did it not work? Is Tanjiro going to evolve again into something even more demonic?
Well it turns out, sometimes it do be like that, and all Tanjiro needed for a cure was a catalyst. Namely, the power of friendship. As we see Tanjiro’s internalised mindscape form being given a helping hand and encouraged back to the light by all his friends and allies that had died to the cause. All the while, in a futile attempt we see the embodiment of Muzan attempting to drag him down back to the Demon side. It’s all very much a tug of war with Tanjiro’s sanity being the rope.
Tanjiro wakes up. Kanao is bandaged up and the two Kamado siblings BOTH finally human, are reunited.
It looks like Gotouge has this series come to a close with the happy ending route, that is if you’re cool with the shear number of Demon Slayers that kicked the bucket this arc. I guess, Happy-ish?
So as for translations from the panels available it goes something a little like this. First page with Nezuko crying …..Lets go home Tanjiro. and tanjiro inside his mind saying…
Effectively him replying with i want to go home. I do want go home Nezuko. DO you have any idea how tired I am?
And then next we have the tug of war scene with the demon slayers pulling Tanjiro from one end and Muzan pulling from the other.And we also see Muzan forming his face as a ball of cells on Tanjiro’s arms shooting some small talk too. Goes a little something like this…

Kimetsu no Yaiba Chapter 202 Predictions That Will 100%(ish) Be Seen Next Week.

OK predictions for Demon Slayer chapter 202. I’d actually initially predicted that Nezuko would be the one to close out the story, meeting Tanjiro on the battlefield, and giving him a good old hug in the sunlight as he withers away just as Muzan did not too long ago. But it would seem that the general consensus is that Tanjiro is now immune to the sun, just like his sister.
And with this resistance, what’s to say a Nichirin blade will still be effective? These Nichirin blades that were made from the special ore are said to be bathed all day in sunlight, essentially containing the essence of the sun. And if the sun is now ineffective at stopping Tanjiro, then the demon slayers might as well be swinging around regular steel, which we know has ZERO effect on stopping demons.
Perhaps instead of Nezuko doing it by force, she may be able to bring Tanjiro’s humanity, or at least his sanity back to the forefront of his brain. This would be a throwback to the very first episode of Demon Slayer where Nezuko had transformed into a feral demon, but Tanjiro was able to bring her back to her usual passive demeanour. I mean, we have Yushiro on the scene, there's a good chance he still has some Demon Reverting potion remaining from their fight with Muzan. Nezuko passiifying Tanjiro mentally, and Yushiro reverting him physically, could be the one to punch to end the series.
But, that’s not where I want this to go. Plan C, the ultimate plan, to keep Kimetsu no Yaiba going, and give us the true King Demon Tanjiro Arc we need.
Taniro. Escapes.
Nezuko, Inosuke and Zenitsu are charged with the task of finding Tanjiro and ending him. Tanjiro will make it far from Tokyo and will manufacture some demon moons of his own. Nezuko will either retain some of her demon power and fight as a half demon human hybrid. Or better yet, we could have a 3 year or so time skip and she could take up the blade. That time in which we would find Zenitsu Kanao and Inosuke promoted to pillar status.
THIS is what I want.
And it really doesn’t feel too far fetched. Demon Slayer has been absolutely killing it. Even beating One Piece out in volume sales recently. And with a movie and second season anime on the way, it seems a waste from a monetary point of view to end the manga here. This is Shueisha we’re talking about.
And yes, I know they announced in February 2019 that this was the last part of the Demon Slayer series, the last saga. 6000 miles couldn't keep me from seeing Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul.
A non-spoilery review and my thoughts n' feelings for the film.

Imagine creating one of the most unique dark fantasy, adventure anime manga series of all time, but only releasing a chapter every 6 months and depriving the fandom of new animated material for two years.
If Made in Abyss was anything less than perfect then maybe I'd be angry. But then, perhaps perfect is an understatement. Seriously.
Picture this, a chad by the name of anime fried chicken discovers Made in Abyss at the end of 2019, powers through the anime, and when discovering that the shows only runs for 13 episodes, he starts pulling out his hair and spitting out his teeth as if he was afflicted by the 5th level's abyssial curse.
How can a show so sweet be so short? Alas, the source manga, a web comic publication is miles ahead of the show, providing you with at least a couple more weeks worth of Reg, Riku and Nanachi adventure, right?
Well actually you finish all 53 chapters in a single day, and a single sitting sitting at that. So what's next? Kidnap the managka and force them to finish more chapters at gunpoint? That's not practical…
But then as if by divine intervention, a light shines at the end of the tunnel. Salvation has presented it itself in the form of Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul. A movie continuation of the manga covering the Bondrewd arc.
Premiering in January 2020, being so soon after my introduction with the show, and in peak hype, I couldn't be happier. I check the theater locations for the nearest screening, and its tokyo, Japan. And with no English release of the film announced, plan B comes into play. Google maps tells me it's a 13 hour trip to Tokyo, and I book my ticket.
Ok enough prologue. I went to Japan and watched Made In Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul. And you better believe I listened to the new soundtrack on loop for 11 hours on the airplane. It's stunning.
I arrive in Tokyo, check into my hotel, and head to a nearby movie theater that exclusively plays anime films. I grab my ticket and head in, the lights fade to black and it begins.

So, real talk the movie was perfect. If you're watching this as an anime only, I'll keep this review spoiler free, only going as far as not giving away anything story wise beyond whats seen in the trailer.
Starting with the story. If you've enjoyed the made in abyss tv anime up to this point, expect more of the greatness you've come to love.
I'm sure you were emotionally shattered with Mitty's storyline, and you've only just recovered from the heartbreak. But fear not, Dawn of the Deep Soul will once again break

Eizouken’s Winter run captured our hearts by resonating with our innate capacity for imagination and desire to flex that creativity muscle. All the while allowing us to project onto characters young enough to not be tied down by adult responsibility and all-in on their dreams. It’s gratuitous fan service for the boundless creatives with restless hands. And for people like me that can barely hold a pencil and diagnosed artistically challenged, you’ll find yourself drowned in envy, but inspired all the same. Yeah, Inspired. That’s the buzz.
In this video I’ll be highlighting the differences between the Anime and Manga for Eizouken Te wo Dasuna! Specifically episode 1 and chapter 1, hopefully giving you an idea of how they stack up and encouraging you to read beyond the now finished first season of the anime. Because it’s awesome.
Ok Opening up the first episode of the anime we’re treated to a budding Asakusa exploring shibahama, shown to be structured similarly somewhere between Venice and the town surrounding Honnouji academy in Kill la kill.
As for our protagonist, chances are if you’re watching this video, you’re not worlds apart from Asakusa yourself, having watched anime or read manga in your young formative years.
And you’ll get to re-live that feeling through Asakusa’s eyes as she loads up future boy Conan and you watch her taken prisoner by her imagination guided by her foray into the world of anime.
Now comparing the two mediums, first and foremost this scene appears way further into the manga, with many less shots of future boy Conan as we see studio Science Saru recreate plenty additional footage of Miyazaki’s famous show.
Conversely the manga starts by introducing the three girls with Kanamori and Asakusa talking as they spot the famous model and soon to be buddy, Mizusaki.
The manga chooses to first establish the cast, but the anime chooses to first establish the vibe, the wonderment of being absorbed into a different world. Arguably the latter much more impactful and infinitely more relatable to us anime fiends.
Both mediums follow the same route with Kanamori, Asakusa and Mizusaki in the auditorium with Mizusaki snatching that camouflage hat and escaping from her family’s servants.
They change Mizusaki’s servants into black turtleneck wearing sunglasses indoors, kinda guys. Making them look like villain henchmen.
Whereas in the manga they are wearing suits. And in the manga, they are referred to as GHQ agents, which I believe is a military org, but in the anime they get labelled as Men in Black, a shame they didn’t get to keep their suits through the adaptat

Nothing says “shounen jump” more than a guy getting his face split in half. Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 115 spoilers looks to be the Sukuna-centric entry to the series we’ve been gagging for. How long have we waited watching Yuji potter around pretending to be hot shed, when we know Sukuna is just a couple inches beneath the surface, just looking for the chance to break free and obliterate tokyo with his scorched earth tendencies and chaotic disregard for human life.
And from what we can see of the spoilers, this non-stop bombastic beatdown isn’t going to end anytime soon. Surely you guys don’t want to just see Sukuna just dunk on all of the top sorcers as they're trying to save the world, right?
Yep, me, I’m the guy. 10 more chapters of this please, I’m just wondering if Sukuna would leave a single human, sorcerer or not, in shibuya alive by the end of 10 chapters.
So this week's chapter is pretty much a direct continuation on the premise laid out last week. “If you can land a single hit on me, then I’ll humour you and help you with your plan”. Sukuna says, as if there is even a chance Jogo could actually manage the feat, which he sure as shed can’t.
AND As far as my top 3 Sukuna brutality moments in these panels go, thanks for asking, they would have to be, #3 Slicing off Jogo’s hands before he had even noticed.
#2 Caving in Jogo’s brain with a double handed overhead jackhammer sumashu,
and #1 catching Jogo straight after his brain-pancaking with a deathgrip to the jaw, and then running him through the roof and subsequently driving him through 25ish storeys of a skyscraper.
Love taps aside, we seem to get some pretty cool interactions between sukuna and the newly introduced Jujutsu sword user and panda, whom both seem to immediately realise they’re dead if they even breathe the wrong way around Sukuna.
And while this is happening it seems Jogo took the time to pick his jaw off the ground and heal some damage, only to summon a giant blazing meteor aimed at Sukuna. In turn it seems half of shibuya is about to be claimed as collateral damage.
And as shook as the jujutsu sorcerers are, my guy Sukuna is out here smiling. Unfazed. No thugs given. With such outlandish bravado that we see him dash on top of this humongous fire ball, and just starts shooting the breeze with Jogo. Man these guys are worlds apart and it’s not even close!
And the very last flex is Sukuna manipulating fire, just like Jogo. Which is pretty spooky considering up until now we’ve been thinking Sukuna’s cursed technique is slashing and slicing, as we’ve seen him cheese-wire up a bunch
