Hiking Thomson's Falls in Nyahururu
Thomson's Falls is a 74 m scenic waterfall on the Ewaso Nyiro river, which drains from the Aberdare Mountain Range. It is situated about 2 kilometers from the town of Nyahururu in Laikipia County, at 2,360m elevation. In 1883 Joseph Thomson was the first European to reach Thomson Falls. He was a Scottish geologist and naturalist who was also the first European to walk from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the early 1880s.
The mist feeds the dense forest below. There's a trail down to the bottom of the falls. We took the trek down the trail to the bottom of the valley to get up-close with falls
International and domestic tourists are charged at the gate to visit the falls.
