In February 1987, six children and two well-dressed men were arrested in Tallahassee, Florida after an anonymous caller reported the children as potential victims of abuse. Tallahassee police soon found the kids and adults were part of a mysterious cult known as The Finders. After raiding properties owned by The Finders, authorities reported uncovering evidence of sexual abuse, child trafficking, and even satanism. Within 24 hours the story became a national sensation, making headlines in the Associated Press, New York Times, Washington Post, and other prominent media outlets. However, in less than a week, the FBI, Tallahassee Police, Washington Metro Police, and U.S. Customs service all claimed the evidence was exaggerated and the whole situation was an unfortunate misunderstanding. Despite the end of the investigation, several law enforcement officials claimed the story had been buried by the U.S. government. Thirty years have passed since the Tallahassee incident and the story has largely been forgotten. Until now.
