I spent some time in Tirana, Albania walking around the city, visiting with the locals, eating the food and shopping. It is a bit economically depressed but the city is alive and vibrant with activity. There is plenty to see if you explore the whole city and the people are friendly. I definitely suggest a visit if you get a chance. Head to Biloku for some entertainment while you're there.

Another video from my road trip through Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro and Croatia. Beautiful country, great people, rural and rugged more often than not. I loved it.

So, I mentioned in other videos what driving or riding in Thailand is like. An I mentioned an interesting way to get from Bangkok to Pattaya is by van or bus? There doesn't appear to be any meaningful driving laws or speed limits other than try not to run people down or smash into anything. I took a bus from Bangkok’s Ekamai station to Pattaya so I could wander around one of the primary tourist meccas.
I spent several weeks tramping around the area, eating, talking to the locals and basically enjoying myself. It's busy most of the day throughout the city and especially on the walking street. There are taxis running around the clock so getting up and down the beach is easy. There are also busses that run from the Jomtien bus station to the airport in Bangkok. It’s inexpensive as well, something like $4 from the airport to Jomtien bus station. There is quite a bit to see in the area, some of it reasonable and some not. If you’re into Buddhist culture and temples there are more than a few to visit. The whole area is designed to keep tourist busy with indoor and outdoor shopping, eating and drinking, hanging out on the beach and other creative ways to burn up time.
Although the area isn’t terribly expensive, especially during the off season, if you get out of the tourist areas it’s very reasonable, even cheap. I would go to Pattaya at least once so you can say you went. Here are a few things I'll elaborate on in other videos.

Watch all the videos I took while walking around in Pattaya and Jomtien. It's an interesting place. During the morning the Thai people are hanging out and there are a few early morning riser tourists. As the day advances and moves into the evening a whole other type of lets say “interesting people crawl out of the woodwork” The main narrative is in the first post.

While I was in Pristina, Kosovo I took in a Ballet being performed by the National Ballet company. Very enjoyable, you should stop by if you get the chance.

I was on the walking street in Pattaya, Thailand during the evening and as you can imagine the environment brings out all types of people and I mean all types. People just hanging out, some trying to make a buck, others people watching, drinking and engaged in various types of activity. Every bar had women and ladyboys outside working to get the passersby to come in, some were sort of passive but others were rather aggressive. All were dressed provocatively or at a minimum in some interesting clothing combinations.
Back to the street performers though. For the most part they were quite young probably to use a mixture of entertainment and youth to evoke sympathy. One in particular I saw out the couple of nights I was there was a very small girl, perhaps 8ish I’m not sure … Young. There didn’t seem to be an adult watching or nearby and she appeared to be on her own. She had a hula hoop and was quite good at working the crowd. She was really giving it her all it appeared and worked late into the night and the people loved it. I passed her several times over the course of a few hours and she was spinning away or walking up to the pedestrians in an attempt to get them to donate.
She was dressed in pink and made up to look much older, it was cute and funny at the same time. It looked like she was doing a brisk business as the people seemed to be stopping to get a picture and donate money.
As I walked down the street there were many more people on the street doing their thing with costumes, musical instruments and providing entertainment. Further on toward the dock there were face painters and musicians which all seemed to be doing quite a good job. I even think I saw a couple westerners out performing for cash.

Wizard of Where
A friend of mine had been suggesting we drive to Prizrin and spend the day but it was a bit of a drive and I was procrastinating for some reason. I eventually set aside a day and we drove down through the countryside and to the city of Prizrin, an ancient city as I learned that had been controlled by various forces throughout history.
We parked the car and wandered into what appeared to be an upscale restaurant and it was for the most part empty. We sat down and the waiter asked what we wanted so all ordered coffee as was our normal process by this time and chatted among ourselves for a bit. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this but in Kosovo all the wait staff seem to be men for some reason. I was rarely waited on by women for some reason all though they were present and appeared to be working. The was true in every restaurant I ate in, women worked behind the counter in bake shops or at cash registers in grocery stores, little shops and the like but the wait staff was exclusively men.
After the coffee we walked across a bridge into the town and came upon a fountain and my friend said that if you drank the water it was supposed to bring you luck. I figured, what the heck and had a sip. Feeling no change in my luck status I moved on but at least I can say I did it. The town was full of people, mostly locals I assume and had the normal assortment of shops. I did notice a craft which I had not seen up until this point and that was the making of figures out of some type of wire. There were all sorts of these elaborate figures of various sizes and it must take weeks or more of consistent effort due to the intricacy of the figurines. There were animals, angels, landscapes, it was amazing that someone has the patience to sit and weave wire in such a beautiful fashion. It is a real work of art and as I have no artistic ability whatsoever these types of things are miraculous to me.
I spent several hours walking through the town looking for a perfect souvenir but found nothing inspiring. I did locate a church or cathedral which appeared to have been around for centuries. I ended up meeting a group of people from the United States, who were actually Kosovo Albanians returning for a visit. We chatted for a bit, took a few pictures and I made my way into the cathedral for a few pictures.
I saw what appeared to be a fortress on the hill overlooking the city so I made my way in the direction of what appeared to be a paved path and eventually located it. It started out as a cobblestone street and as I made my way up there was a guy sitting on his porch and he asked us where we were going. I pointed to the castle walls and he asked if we would like to stop for a drink. I politely declined and told him we would stop on the way down if he was still there.
It was quite a climb and the path was steep but still constructed of cobblestone the entire way. It was an old Turkish fort I believe that has some military significance at some point. It had long ago lost its significance and fallen into decay and disrepair but was it appears a designated national heritage spot of some sort. I walked the walls and snapped a few photos of the town below and managed to get a few good photos despite the fog that had settled on the town.
The novelty having worn off, I returned down the path and ultimately found myself in front of the house I had passed earlier and had a drink with the owner as he was still sitting there waiting for my return. He was very friendly and I remained for a bit and listened as he told me about his family and why he lives in Prizren. It was a very nice house and must have been quit expensive to build and maintain so I imagine he must be a business owner in the town somewhere.
I eventually returned to the city center and decided to have lunch at a local restaurant and chose one near the fountain. It was a very nice restaurant with a fountain and large fish pond inside. I sat by the fountain and ordered a plate with a variety of meats and cheeses locally made as I like to eat the local food when I have the chance. The staff were polite, the meal arrived quickly and was quite good. There was really too much food for one person to eat as the picture on the menu belied the actual dish that arrived. I sat and chatted with my friends and admired the fountain for a bit before tipping the waiter and leaving.
Having toured the city, eaten a great meal and drank from the luck fountain I figured the day was complete and made my way back to Pristina to download my pictures and discuss the day with friends.

I was driving around Cambridgeshire, England and having heard about the World War II cemetery in the area decided to stop by. I was lucky enough to be the only person on the grounds and got a personal tour. It is quite a site and the tour was very interesting. The site is immaculate and the various buildings are full of history. I recommend a visit if you're in the area as it is awe inspiring to learn of the sacrifices made by the people who fought.
