Oil prices fell for a fourth straight day with losses below $50 a barrel driving prices to five year lows. Crude oil prices have plunged more than 55 percent since June when Brent traded about $115 a barrel. Experts believe the tumbling crude prices could trigger a flood of oil-field writedowns. In addition to the global oil supply glut we are experiencing, ISIS has begun attacking Saudi border defenses killing three Saudi border guards.
Then Erin discusses Europe, Greece and Germany’s recent inflation rate with Tim Duy, Professor of Economics at the University of Oregon. Tim explains his thoughts on the ECB and their potential QE program. Then Peter Schiff, CEO of Euro Pacific Capital talks to us about the drop in gold prices and if the Fed will increase rates in 2015.
And in The Big Deal, Edward Harrison joins Erin LIVE from Las Vegas where he is covering the International Consumer Electronics Show. Some highlights include drones and a driverless car from BMW. Edward also discusses his thoughts on the Greek crisis and the falling euro, which has plummeted to a nine year low to the dollar.
Today’s headline is taxes – specifically, the taxes American businesses pay on income earned abroad. There’s been a lot of hay made in the media of late concerning businesses seeking to minimize their tax liabilities and now regulators are cracking down. Edward Harrison weighs in.
Then, Edward is joined by Aswath Damodaran – professor of finance at the Stern School of Business at New York University – to discuss business valuations and get his take on companies like Uber, GoPro, and Yahoo. After the break, Edward is joined by Rick Rule – founder of global companies at Sprott Global – to get his take on gold.
And in Defining Moments, some of the most memorable parts of our recent interviews are featured – including commentary from Ann Pettifor, Warren Mosler, Alex Daley, and Steve Keen. Take a look!
