There are a few mini 32-channel VTX's on the market. I've got a couple now, so decided to see how they performed against each other and the more "standard" ImmersionRC 600mw.
I was pleasantly surprised that all the VTX worked without any issue, and quite blown away in the end by the performance of the AOMWay VTX. For the price, an amazing piece of kit.
I had 3 flights of my Bixler 2 - I had range issues at about 600m and a few minutes into my last flight my ESC blew up... making me very pleased about having a separate UBEC so I could glide down.
I went through lots of reconfiguration to try and get everything working - I'm happy with the range now having separated my VTX and RX as much as possible and lot my antennas into a nice V shape. But the GPS from the Suppo OSD is just not holding a lock. Its got to go - this was my original OSD from my Tricopter that did spend time underwater through various crashes.
Also noticed that my WDR-600 looks a little bit out of focus - will need to sort that out
Probably going to go from a Storm if I can find them in stock anywhere

Update: Since I made this video in the first half of 2013, a few more options have popped up. flyingwings.co.uk bought out a version for a 4.3" screen http://www.flyingwings.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=411 and also have the option of a head strap for both sets. Meantime Hobbyking have swooped in and undercut the prices with their Quanum DIY goggles kit which includes a monitor http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=62919&aff=663923 I haven't checked it out personally, but it seems pretty good and is getting some good feedback.
There's never been a cheaper way to get into FPV - what are you waiting for !
Stock Update: I exchanged some email with Rob at flying wings today (27/7/13), and there won't be anything now until early September. This is partly due to Rob shutting down for a period over summer, and running out of black EPP !
Thinking of giving FPV a go, but were put off by the price of a pair of Fat Sharks ? Try a set of these then - I built these "goggles" for just £28, which I intend to use as passenger goggles, but I really didn't have high hopes for them. I though it would be ok at best, but really the picture through them looks really nice. I'm pleasantly surprised.
Apologies for the variable audio in this video. I built them gone midnight, so found myself whispering and had to try re-recording the audio. For some reason the iSight recording audio is really boosted. Hopefully you get the general idea though.

3D printing is a very cool technology, but it's always perhaps been a little too much on the "techie" side of things with machines being tricky to setup, or calibrate - as well as a whole slew of software to learn. But with the Sermoon V1 Pro, Creality are saying you can take it out of the box and print with - and you don't even need a computer, you can use your phone! Will this printer deliver, let's jump in and find out.

Hello and welcome to the 3rd part in the series about how to use your OpenTX radio. This time we tackle something that strikes fear into some - the concept of flashing a new (or altered) version of the firmware. We'll touch on creating custom splash screen as well.
I decided to make a series on OpenTX after some feedback from people saying they found OpenTX difficult to deal with - especially if they'd come from another type of radio. I do also get a lot of questions about how certain things are done, so why not make a bunch of tutorials that explain it all. I have a bunch more planned, but if there's something specific you'd like to see and have me cover, then please pop it in a comment down below and I'll do my best to include it.

People kept using Cinewhoops as an attempt at a crash-resistant quad. Trouble is they were heavy and sluggish and didn't fly all that well. So HGLRC has designed a Cinewhoop style quad specifically to throw around like a regular and be crash-resistant at the same time. Let's see how well it performs.
This quad was kindly supplied by review by HGLRC, so please consider using the following (affiliate) links to take a look in more detail.
The model I used was the analog version https://www.hglrc.com/collections/new-arrivals/products/hglrc-racewhoop30-3-fpv-racing-drone-analog-version?ref=nlrq3y-lbgm
There's also a DJI FPV compatible version (which uses the CADDX Polar vista) here https://www.hglrc.com/collections/new-arrivals/products/hglrc-racewhoop30-fpv-racing-drone-hd-version?ref=nlrq3y-lbgm

It almost seems like having access to a 3D printer is a must in the world of FPV. So if you haven't already got one yet, then you might want to check out this excellent printer from Creality. With an auto-leveling bed, printing over your own LAN, and the ability to print at great speed it seems worthy of a thorough testing!
This 3D printer was kindly supplied by Creality who have supplied the following to to purchase from:

My gut instinct is to say 2.1mm on a quad, and 2.3mm on a plane - but depending on how you fly on either platform, both could do well.
