Still Report #955 - Swiss Withdraw EU Application
Good evening, I’m still reporting on the demise of the European Union.
Switzerland has withdrawn its application for admittance into the European Union. The Swiss Council of States, Switzerland’s upper house, voted 27 to 13 to withdraw its application.
This followed a similarly overwhelming rejection by the lower house in March by a 126 to 46 vote.
The Swiss have never been enthralled with the EU concept. Their first rejection came 24 years ago in 1992 when a referendum of the citizens turned back an application to join the European Economic Area.
Damian Mueller of the Free Democratic Party said the votes in the Swiss Parliament were necessary to settle the issue once and for all:
“[We had] to make a clean sweep.”
The Swiss vote followed last year’s decision by Iceland to drop its own application to the European Union. Hannes Germann of the Swiss People’s Party noted:
“Iceland had the courage to withdrew their application for membership and no volcano erupted.”
Christoph Blocher, the former Swiss member of Parliament who led the charge to keep Switzerland out of the EU in 1992 remembered that there were predictions of doom and gloom for the Swiss nation at that time if they did not enter the EU.
However, those predictions did not materialize. Today, Switzerland is one of the richest nations in the world with a GDP per capita that is twice that of the UK.
Bloucher says that the Brits should not listen to the Project Fear folks in the UK:
“I think if you leave the EU it will be very good for you.”
Since the assassination of British MP, Jo Cox, on Thursday, European stock markets had quickly reversed a days-long slide as polling in Britain has been strongly moving in the direction of Brexit – Britain’s exit from the EU.
The thinking was that since Mrs. Cox was a highly respected opponent of Brexit, that a sympathy vote would emerge.
However, the latest polling of 1,992 British adults shows that although supporters of Brexit remain at 52%, support for remaining has dropped from 40% to 32%, and the undecided jumped from 9% up to 16% - definitely not a good sign for the EU.
Translation: the Swiss vote may have been the final nail in the coffin of British membership in the European Union and after a British rejection, several other European nations are contemplating leaving as well.

Good morning, I’m still reporting on Anti-Trump Protesters Paid $35 Per Hour
The forces of disruption and anarchy are preparing for a so-called “massive demonstration” on January 20th to try to disrupt Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Yup, wear black and disrupt. That’s their motto. Oh, be sure to wear thermal underwear, because Jan. 20th is typically the coldest day of the year in Washington, and the National Mall is a big, wide-open space through which the cold wind off the Potomac blows.
And you are going to have to walk a long way to find a place to get warm.
Now, if you are arrested - which is quite possible – at least you’ll be out of the cold. But then your future earning power will be significantly reduced for the rest of your life. Of course, you won’t realize this for another 20 years.
This quote from the first paragraph of this webpage:
“It must be made clear to the whole world that the vast majority of people in the United States do not support his presidency or consent to his rule.”
If that was true, then you certainly wouldn’t have to be paying protesters $35 per hour, to be there, now would you? You wouldn’t have to be bussing in protesters either now would you?
The DC metro area is filled with willing protesters for just about any cause. But they are also smart enough to know not to come down to the Mall on Jan. 20th unless you really have a need to be uncomfortable.
I was on the Mall for the big anti-Vietnam-war protests of the early 1970s. No one had to be paid. Most of us were not particularly anti-war, either. It was just a big happening on the Mall and everyone wanted to go check it out. Well, over a million people showed up.
I pushed my way to the front just because even then, I was interested in what makes things tick. But when I got to the front I was astonished to find that there where only a couple hundred SDS violence-prone radicals throwing rocks and bottles at a slow-moving wedge of a couple hundred cops coming down Constitution Avenue.
That’s when I learned the word – “agent provocateur” – people trying to bring about a major riot by provoking a violent reaction from the police.
Well, that didn’t work, but for most of us, that was our first taste of tear gas.
The vast majority of the crowd was just there to listen to a star-studded group of acts from Janis Joplin to a rumored appearance by Jimi Hendrix. We would have paid to be there. Certainly no one had to pay us.
Call it apathy, or call it common sense with a dash of anti-war sentiment because most of us were facing the draft back then.
Flash forward to today. I live quietly surrounded by Democrats. The lifespan of my Trump signs were measured in days, not weeks.
But will my Democrat neighbors take to the streets now? No way. They accept the American tradition of peaceful transition of power. Their attitude is our woman lost, so we’ll see how Trump does. He probably won’t be so bad.
To my international audience, don’t believe what you see on TV. In my travels since the election – which were significant last week – I have seen exactly ZERO protesters, anywhere.
Most people are excited by the prospect of Trump. They see Trump as a change president who finally will drain the corruption swamp of lobbyists that now encircles Congress.
And what about prosecuting those who are supplying the millions of dollars to fund these riots going on today? Well, brother Obama is still in power. But this changes as of noon on Friday, January 20th.
Thereafter, I expect several resignations at the Justice Department and the FBI, and then the indictments will begin to flow as the rule of law reinstates itself after a long absence in Washington.

USC/Daybreak Poll
The latest USC/Daybreak poll shows Donald Trump, after dipping below Hillary Clinton 2 weeks ago in a nationwide poll, is closing the gap once again. The latest numbers, Clinton 44.0%, Trump 43.4%.
“ABC” Fake Poll
One of the most noteworthy developments in this year’s election cycle is the appearance of fake news of every sort. It’s an epidemic that is sweeping every aspect of the news business that is not only eroding public confidence in the reliability of all news sites, but making it much harder to produce news stories.
The latest example is this purported ABC News Live online poll. Here is the current screenshot for this page, but just one hour ago these images were black & white only:

But if you click on these other headings, they are merely blank placeholders. Of course, maybe they will fill them with fake news by the time the evening is out as well.

Then there was the LongRoom Poll – purported to be a new style poll that calculated the skews of the various polls and removed them.
Well, it sounded good, but after about a week, the website suddenly disappeared never to be heard from again.
The Zip App
Finally, there is the latest addition to polling – the Zip App – a mobile only poll created by San Diego-based Crazy Raccoons.
The app poses questions and polls responses based on an average of 100,000 users daily.
So, despite the latest Real Clear Politics average that stands at Clinton 47, Trump 41.2%, the Zip App poll shows Trump winning in a landslide 64 to 36%.
According to Zip App co-founder Ric Militi:
“We’re not a poll. We’re a conversation, and 100% anonymous. People feel comfortable answering questions without fear of being bullied or being called a racist. People can express themselves safely, and you get a pure answer.”

So we may be getting closer to the bottom of that UPS charter that unloaded 30 bus loads of people at night at the Harrisburg, Penn Regional airport. This was broadcast as Minute Memo #201.
Our fearless commenters provided some great information. It turns out that UPS has converted a few planes for passengers as charters. There are several articles on this if you do a search on it.
Ed said that he heard an interview with a commercial pilot last year who:
“…refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement that allowed him to break FAA regulations but lost his job in his refusal. He was to fly [refugees] in from some middle east country into JFK in the middle of the night bypassing security.
A person named only “Please Stay Tuned” alerted me that this:
“Could be the Pennsylvania Refugee Resettlement Program. Seems to be a very quiet gov funded org.”
Well, as it turns out, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie revealed last week on Fox that the Obama administration has been bringing in refugees by plane for quite a while.

But will these refugees ever make TV news.
No way! Middle of the night, landing at rotating small regional airports, they quickly jump on common charter buses. TV cameras will never be there.
And just look at the numbers. Everyone is getting all excited about Obama saying he would bring in 10,000 refugees from Syria.
In the first 5 years of the Obama presidency, the U.S. gave out green cards to over 680,000 immigrants from predominantly Muslim countries.
According to the Center for Immigration Studies, in recent years, 100,000 new Muslim immigrants are brought into the United States each year, and it’s growing at a rate of about 10% per year. So this battle in the press about whether or not to reject the president’s plan to bring in 10,000 more is nothing but a distraction.
The truth is that in the last 5 years, we have admitted more Muslims into the U.S. already than the entire Muslim population of Belgium – and that entire country is on lockdown from the Friday the 13th terrorist event in adjoining France.

This evening, a record crowd of 34,000 inside the Madison, AL City Schools Stadium and thousands more outside who were unable to get in before the Fire Marshall closed the gates watched in awe as Senator Jeff Sessions, the most respected man in the United States Senate, endorsed Donald Trump.

Sessions is not only known as the most vocal immigration hawk in Congress, but one of the few who actually did sit in that ‘secret room’ inside the U.S. Capitol building and read the 5,000 +page Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement.
A vote on the TPP has been put off until after the coming elections in November.
Donald Trump released the following statement after the big rally in Alabama:
“We are witnessing an incredible movement, arising from the people. The events of history have aligned to give the people this fleeting chance to bust up the oligarchy– to take back control from the ‘Masters of the Universe’, return it to the good and decent and patriotic citizens of the United States.”
Earlier today, former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer endorsed Donald Trump as well, bringing to 3 the number of governors on the Trump bandwagon, with likely many more to come in the next two weeks.

SR 1197 – Donald Trump Has a Wide Open Path to Victory over Crooked Hillary Now!

Good evening, I’m still reporting on Trump.
For the first time, I can see the math behind a Trump win in the Electoral College.
I’ve been watching a British betting site – PaddyPower.com. As Trump’s odds improved, I realized that this bookie site was also giving odds on whether Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump would win November’s election on a state-by-state basis.
The results are quite interesting compared to the opinion poll averages in the U.S.
The bottom line is that this race is a lot closer than the U.S. pollsters are trying to make us believe it is.
Here is the Real Clear Politics average of all U.S. polls as of today. The red states are solid Republican.
The pink states are Republican leaning states with leads of between 5 and 10 points.
The dark blue states are solid Democrat states.
The light blue are states leaning Democrat with leads of between 5 and 10 points.
The dark gray states are considered tossups.
My opinion is that Real Clear Politics tends to skew its results towards the Democrats.
In any case, as of today, Real Clear Politics gives Clinton 200 electoral votes and Trump 164 with 174 a tossup. Only a few weeks ago, Trump was behind by over 100 electoral votes on this map.
But here is the map according to PaddyPower – the British bookie site. Trump only is behind by a thin margin of 20 electoral votes. Here’s the difference.
They gave the rest of the deep south to Trump – that is Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. They gave Virginia and Pennsylvania to Clinton and New Hampshire to Clinton. They gave Ohio and Iowa to Trump, but the northern Midwest – Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan to Clinton.
Heading west, they gave Colorado and Nevada to Clinton but Arizona to Trump and that gave them 279 for Clinton and 259 for Trump. Keep in mind, it takes 270 votes to win. So, a swing of only 11 electoral votes swings this election.
And if you take into account the latest trending in the polls from the last few days you can easily see more than an 11-vote swing. So here is the Still Report map.
The 4 states that moved significantly in the last few days were Colorado, where now Trump leads. Colorado alone has 9 electoral votes. The second state was Nevada, where, again Trump just took the lead. That’s 15 electoral college votes, and enough for Trump to win it. I don’t see either of these trends reversing in Clinton’s direction again. She’s done.
Besides that, in New Hampshire, Trump has been continually catching Clinton. Did you wonder why Trump has gone into New Hampshire so many times it the last few weeks. The latest poll – and the largest one – shows Clinton now with only a 1 point lead, where just two weeks ago, she had an 8-point lead. Trends are important, and I don’t think Trump will let this momentum reverse either.
The same thing with Maine. A month ago Clinton had a 10-point lead. The latest poll now cuts that to just 3 points.
And you cannot count Trump out in Pennsylvania and its 20 electoral votes. Trump has cut Clinton’s lead to 5 points and that is still trending Trump.
In Michigan, with it’s 16 electoral votes it’s all over the papers up there that Clinton’s lead has been cut to less than 5 points because Muslim immigration is becoming hot issue, after Trump’s visit there.
In Wisconsin, the last two polls have brought Trump within 3-5 points, plus, their Governor, Scott Walker is a Republican as is the Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan. Wisconsin’s 10 electoral votes are definitely in play here.
But let’s go back to the PaddyPower map and add in the new data. So we change Colorado and Nevada to Trump. I’m giving New Hampshire and Maine to Trump. And that gives him an easy victory 281 over 257 for Clinton, and that’s without counting Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. With all of those, that would be a real electoral landslide of 337 Trump to 201 Clinton.

Good morning, the Chinese stock market has crashed 8.7% - the largest one-day drop since 2007.
In the past weeks, the communist Chinese government has tried its own version of quantitative easing to try to keep the bubble in the market from bursting.
Today we find out that the IMF has been advising China to stop its intervention so that market forces could set the true price of its shares. That may be the cause.
The question is how large will the effect be in European and the U.S. stock market? Currently the German and British stock markets are down more than 1.5% - the equivalent of a 280-point drop in the Dow.
But here is the worst news that will effect markets tomorrow; trading was halted in many large Chinese stocks this morning because they had exceeded the negative 10% limit imposed.
What will happen tomorrow when these stocks are cut loose?
