Kali Linux - Steghide - Hide Sensitive data Inside Images
Steganography is a technique that aims to hide the communication between two interlocutors. The term is composed precisely of the Greek words στεγανός (covered) and γραφία (writing).

Title page of the first book on steganography.
The first registered use of the term was in 1499 by Johannes Trithemius in his Steganographia [1], a treatise on cryptography and steganography, disguised as a book on magic. The work began to circulate in private correspondences and aroused such alarmed reactions that the author decided not to give it to the press and even destroyed it in large parts, believing that never happened to see the light. However, it continued a circular in the form of a draft and was published posthumously in 1606 [2].

Generally, hidden messages seem to be (or are part of) something else: images, articles, shopping lists or other cover text. For example, the hidden message can be an invisible ink between the lines of a private letter. Some implementations of steganography that do not represent a secret secret are forms of security through darkness, and key steganographic patterns depend on the principle of Kerckhoffs. [3]

Steganography, as opposed to cryptography, provides to hide a message within a carrier that can allow transport without arousing suspicion.

Steganography includes the hiding of information within a computer file. In digital steganography, electronic communications include including steganographic coding within a transport layer, such as a document file, an image file, a program, or a protocol. Multimedia files are ideal for steganographic transmission due to their large size. For example, a sender could send a harmless image file and adjust the color by one pixel every hundred to do so corresponds to an alphabetic character. The modification is so subtle that someone who doesn't look for it specifically is unlikely to have noticed the change.
