In this video we learn how to use the Order of Operations, which is known as PEMDAS, to simplify expressions. We simplify the expressions 18÷9*2 and 18*2÷9 using the order of operations. Normal Lines. Find the equation of the line normal of y=2/(x-3) at (5, 1). We learn how to find the equation of the normal line of y=2/(x-3) at (5, 1). We learn how to find the equation of the line normal to the function at a given value. The normal line is the perpendicular line of the tangent line at the given point. If the normal line is a vertical line, indicate so. Our answer is in slope-intercept form. In this video, we review how to find the normal line of a function at a given point. We use common derivative properties to solve the derivative of the function which we use to find the slope of a function at a given value. We then find the perpendicular slope. We then find the y-intercept of the normal line to find the full equation of the line normal in slope-intercept form. This is a great introduction into derivatives.
