I Want To Start A Company With 3 Friends... Is It A Good Idea?
In today's video I've answered a question about starting a company. One of my readers asked me if it was a good idea to start a company along with 3 of his friends.
They're just graduating students and they have this ambitious idea of building a company. Should they aim for it... Or should they give up and look for a corporate job at a big company?

"The 10x Rule" Book Review
So, this is another book review for y'all.
This time, I decided it was time to read the "The 10x Rule" book. I confess I was a bit skeptical about this book because I read some bad reviews about it. However, once I got the book and actually read it, I kind of enjoyed it very much. In fact, I was amazed that I found someone that thinks similar to me, when it comes to hard work and everything.
So, here is the description of the book extracted from Amazon:
"Achieve "Massive Action" results and accomplish your business dreams!
While most people operate with only three degrees of action-no action, retreat, or normal action-if you're after big goals, you don't want to settle for the ordinary. To reach the next level, you must understand the coveted 4th degree of action. This 4th degree, also know as the 10 X Rule, is that level of action that guarantees companies and individuals realize their goals and dreams.
The 10 X Rule unveils the principle of "Massive Action," allowing you to blast through business clichŽs and risk-aversion while taking concrete steps to reach your dreams. It also demonstrates why people get stuck in the first three actions and how to move into making the 10X Rule a discipline. Find out exactly where to start, what to do, and how to follow up each action you take with more action to achieve Massive Action results.
Learn the "Estimation of Effort" calculation to ensure you exceed your targets
Make the Fourth Degree a way of life and defy mediocrity
Discover the time management myth
Get the exact reasons why people fail and others succeed
Know the exact formula to solve problems
Extreme success is by definition outside the realm of normal action. Instead of behaving like everybody else and settling for average results, take Massive Action with The 10 X Rule, remove luck and chance from your business equation, and lock in massive success."

When To Learn A Second Programming Language?
So, this is a question I believe a lot of developers would die to know the answer. As software developers, we usually start learning just one programming language and we then specialize in it.
So, you start working with that programming language till you master what you can with it. However, there comes a time when we, as software developers, reach a plateau. There are no new things to be learned and we feel like it is time to jump to a second programming language.
But... When should we do it? How can we know when to learn a second programming language? How can we know that this time spent learning will do more good than harm in terms of not wasting our time?

There comes a time in life when we want to take changes and actually move into another city or even into another country.
The problem is that we tend to believe that travelling and moving will solve all of our problems. We tend to believe that moving will change our lives.
Is it true? What do to in cases like that?

I'm An Old Developer And I Feel Overwhelmed
Despite being experienced, old developers still suffer in the software development world.
There is a lot of ageism and old developers struggle to find their space. Some companies think they are too expensive and like to replace them for young developers. Other companies don't like to hire old developers for any reasons...
That's how they end up in limbo.
In this email, I received a question from an old developer saying he was overwhelmed by the environment we are living and how he could overcome these difficulties and thrive as a developer.

People Are Interrupting You? DON'T ALLOW IT!
Lately, I've been feeling like my productivity has dropped in ways I couldn't imagine before. I was feeling guilty, I was feeling down.
However, over the past few days, I've come to realize that my productivity has gone back up once again and I'm pretty happy about that.
I've done a video about how I was able to get my productivity levels back to where it was before but today I managed to realize one more thing: People interrupting you is also a HUGE bad factor when it comes to hurting your productivity.
Wanna know more about that? Watch this video and find out!

Willpower: Limited Resource?
Recently, I've been seeing a lot of people talking about willpower and how it is a limited resource.
Many people believe they could improve their lives if only they had more of that mysterious thing called willpower. With more self-control we would all eat right, exercise regularly, avoid drugs and alcohol, save for retirement, stop procrastinating, and achieve all sorts of noble goals.
Yet a growing body of research shows that resisting repeated temptations takes a mental toll. Some experts liken willpower to a muscle that can get fatigued from overuse.
So... Is willpower a limited resource? Watch this video and find out!

Should I Work For Free To Get Opportunities?
I like to talk a lot about career and building an online presence for programmers. Help you get a good job that pays well is definitely amongst one of my top priorities here on this youtube channel.
So, if my objective is getting a good job that pays well, how could I possibly talk about working for free? "John, are you insane? How can you possibly be saying that I should even consider working for free? Don't you dare!"
Well, if one thing is true is that you shouldn't be working for free. I don't encourage that. However, sometimes we need to consider our options. Getting instant gratification shouldn't be your priority and your end goal.
Said that, there are times when you're going to get more benefits by working for free and seeing your investment in the future than getting a real paid job and not getting anything.
