Greenhouse and chicken coop design failure, integration failure

In permaculture we strive to have each element provide many functions and each function provided by multiple elements. Ultimately we perform a functional analysis in order to identify and list each element’s needs, products, behaviors and intrinsic characteristics.

The integration of a chicken coop with a greenhouse has resulted with a problem that effects the function and cleanliness of the work area that is between the coop and the greenhouse. Although the entire structure is sound and well insulated the wall separating the work area from the coop is not yet finished and has numerous small air spaces allowing dust to enter the work area.

Chickens need to take dust baths on a regular basis to stay healthy. This kicks up lots of dust into the air. After I insulate and finish the interior walls there will still be filtered air exchange between the coop and the greenhouse via the second floor filtered duct system that has not been constructed yet.
Use small and slow solutions and creatively use and respond to change
Our power lies in our ability to see opportunities in our failures.
