In basement 1 of the Chaos Shrine in the past, you’ll encounter Lich by a nearby stairway. For this battle, Lich’s stats are a little higher than the previous battle, but it has no updated moves. It’s no longer weak against fire spells but still weak against undead spells. A barrage of undead spells should bring it down in the first turn. Otherwise, just tack on some Temper, Haste, and Saber spells to power up. After the battle, continue your exploration.

Golbat will use Poison Fang to badly poison targets and make them flinch by using Bite. Haunter will use Mean Look to prevents its targets from escaping then Curse to make them lose HP every turn along with a Hypnosis-Dream Eater combo. Arbok will lower the target’s Defense stat by using Screech and Iron Tail with Sludge Bomb to add on and poison targets. The 2nd Gengar has a combo of Hypnosis and Nightmare. A move like Psychic will easily knock out the opposing team.

Drake uses Dragon type Pokémon. Shelgon will sometimes use Protect to avoid attacks then Rock Tomb to lower the target’s Speed stat. The 2nd Flygon will be tricky as if can avoid attack for the first turn and striking the next turn with Fly and Dig. Salamence is one of the pseudo-600 club Pokémon that also knows Fly and will use Flamethrower to counter against those who are Steel type. A move like Ice Beam would be the best use for this battle.

Marlon uses Water type Pokémon. Wailord will use Bounce to avoid attacks the first turn and strike the next turn with a 30% chance of paralyzing the target. Carracosta will use Shell Smash to trade Defense for Attack and Speed. Jellicent will use Recover when in danger and its Cursed Body ability can disable a target’s move 30% of the time. After the battle, you’ll receive the Wave Badge and a TM55 (Scald). Scald has a 30% chance of burning the target and can even be used while the user is frozen to thaw out.

At the Cianwood City gym, Chuck is being soaked by a waterfall, and he will not speak with you since he is so into his training. Defeat a few Black Belts and press the switches to lift the waterfall. Once the water stops falling, Chuck will notice you and battle with you. Chuck uses Fighting type Pokémon. Primeape will use Double Team to raise its evasiveness stat and Rock Slide for a 30% chance of making the target flinch. Poliwrath will use Hypnosis to put the target to sleep and Body Slam for a 30% chance of paralyzing the target. After the battle, you’ll receive the Storm Badge and a TM01 (Focus Punch). Focus Punch does serious damage, but the user cannot pull it off if it is attacked by the opponent on the same turn.

Hit an invisible block by a pipe by a platform so you can reach it and go through. In Area 3, helmet ghosts will be jumping by. Cross a small pit of lava and enter the pipe. In Area 4, you’ll be underwater. Pass some bear cubs and pill bars to use the pipe at the dead end. In Area 5, pass a royal guard and jump over a lava pit. With missiles incoming, you’ll reach the drawbridge to take on one more Joestar. This Joestar will throw missiles and gems. Touch the wagon to drop the bridge and you’ll rescue the village mayor to finish your adventure.

Outside the desert by the Relic Castle, give a Rage Candy Bar to a Zen Statue. When you do, the statue will awaken to reveal Darmanitan. This special Darmanitan is on Level 35. Unlike other Darmanitan, this one has a special ability called Zen Mode. If its HP is half or less, it will change into a Zen Statue and add a Psychic type. The Zen Statue form trades the Attack and Special Attack stats plus increases the Defense and Special Defense stats but lowers the Speed stat. If you don’t like this type of Darmanitan, just stick with the ones with the Sheer Force ability.
