FPV build & Fly: The Raven wing, from flyingwings.co.uk
I should point out that this isn't some product placement BTW, I bought my wing as per normal - I just think it's a great deal, and it's really nice that someone in the UK is actually producing planes.
Although lots of people are very into 250 quad racing, nobody has really put forward a set config for racing. The Raven Race-spec is quite specific about motor/prop/esc/lipo/no ap/stabalization, so everyone should be really evenly matched.
This just looked like a fun thing to try, and so we bought a 4-pack of fruity mentos (99p - we couldn't find mint ones) and 4 x 2ltr Tescos value sugar free cola (19p per bottle).
Whilst I don't rate this as particularly education as far as the science goes, it was fun to look at this as a problem solving case - how do we get all the mentos in there quickly and then how do we narrow their escape hole to generate a better fountain. Lots of things to try for next time :)
A very simple, fun and cheap little experiment to try with your kids.

This is a cheap and cheerful action camera which will work well for the casual user who's not willing to pay out, or doesn't require higher quality. How does it fare for FPV use ?

I've spent a lot with HobbyKing, they used to be the only place you could get a lot of stuff for a reasonable cost. But the plethora of reasonably good Chinese wholesalers coupled with the high price delivery and low stock of HobbyKing make me question why ?
Watching it back, it looks a bit like an advert for Banggood - that's not the intention and to be clear, I don't get anything for free to review these days (not for over a year) but they do tend to be my first port of call for a lot of my buying. They are an example, but obviously, many other retailers also exist :)
Please share your feelings, are you all fed up with HK, or am I just in my last throws of 2016 grumpiness ?

Bit of a family getaway for a few days. Managed to fit my quad into the car with us, but the winds were just amazing, so only got a few small flights in. I would have loved to have done some more, the whole coastline is stunning.

After smashing my poor mini quad to pieces, I hastily put my Tricopter together as I had a new KK2. So I set that up, borrowed a VTX of my El Cheapo quad (using a crappy SPW that's been landed on about 20 times) and completely went back to basics. I think I pinned down the glitches I suffered on this Tricopter and my f450 quad as a combination of using the pigeon OS with the FrSky v8FR-II rx's. So this was back on a 9X rx and no OSD.
Sadly, no GoPro either... or WDR600 (borrowed elsewhere) leaving me with a quick bodge with some velcro to get my 808 #16 cam quickly installed. It was ok, but a bit shaky as can be seen. It's not much fun flying in an out of the shadow with that cam either, it doesn't handle it well :)
Lots of fun was had though, I'd forgotten how a Tri handles, and I'm completely in love with her again. It really is quite different from a quad.
Hopefully more from the Tri again soon (with a better camera hopefully)

This is the ending of the PS1 game, "R/C Stunt Copter". This seemed to have come about by the (I think) then head of Shiny, Dave Perry enjoying flying real RC heli's - as you can see from the ending, he flashes a large one around.
The game doesn't a reasonable job of replicating an RC helicopter - it's certainly no Phoenix Simulator, but given it's age, and the limitations of the original analogue controller, it was a bout as good as you could get at the time.
An interesting cross-over between gaming and RC.... something I can certainly identify with right now ;-)
