This is gameplay footage of Steel Harbinger on the PS1. I'm playing it on a PS2 with texture smoothing on.
You may ask why I would decide to upload footage of this game as my first upload since I returned home from my trip.
Well, this game came up in a discussion on a forums I frequent, where a member was looking for a name of an old game. This game's name came up, and I happened to find it for a mere $2 at a local video store in a small IL town. There is no footage of this game in action (there is some of the cutscenes) on youtube yet that I've found, so this is to finally figure out if this is the game he was talking about.
This game is pretty simple, and pretty crude looking, but it's actually kind of engaging. Sure it's not the most depth-full in the gameplay department, but it still kind of fun to me.
I'll get back to posting vids on a regular basis soon.

Man, the racing elements of this game are a little frustrating. Maybe they get easier after you unlock a few cars, but the opponents, apparently, weigh as much as an M1 Abrams. You don't get the fun of bumping and rubbing against them, because they just push you out of the way. Whenever you opponents make mistakes, they almost instantly recover, and pass you, and no matter what the stats of the cars are, your opponents will always just zoom ahead of you, no matter what.
I do like this game, but with things like Burnout out there, I don't see a lot of people feeling the need to play this one unless they have a nostalgic attachment to it. I like the oldschool Test Drive series, and this one has the long race modes of it's predecessors, as well as lap races, and even a Hot Pursuit mode which is solid, but not as fun as the Hot Pursuit Mode in Need for Speed games.
Upscaled on the Xbox 360 for this footage, the Original Xbox version of the game looks really good, especially for a 2002 release. I think this is a fun game from what I have played of it, the 7 out of 10 scores it received seem about right. It's fun, but frustrating, and there are better similar games for the Xbox and PS2. It's better than average, but still hard to recommend with Need for Speed, and Burnout being things, unless you really like Pong which the game lets you play while it loads a race.
NOTE: I muted the background music for this gameplay sample.

I had to mute the music in the game for this footage, which is a shame, because the music is pretty good, but content ID does not like it.
Remakes/Reboots may all be the rage in today's gaming, but Midway was way ahead of the curve, re-inventing almost all of their classic Williams/Midway Arcade games like Spy Hunter, Area 51, Mortal Kombat, Arctic Thunder, L.A. Rush, and Etc, as well as releasing new IUPs like PSi Ops, and The Suffering.
Defender is another re-imagining of Midway's fist big arcade hit, and even though I've never gotten very far into the game, I still really like this game. It's a mission-based flight game, and a solid one that mixes elements from the classic game, like rescuing hostages, and the enemy types. The game runs smoothly, and plays well. Again, I haven't gotten too far into it, but I still have always liked this defender reboot. Check it out on the PS2, Xbox, or Gamecube if you get the chance. Smooth playing, fun game.

This was the first video I had my Rode NT microphone, and the original I didn't fix the voice over sound right, so my intro is super loud, but my voce over is muffled. I fixed that in this remaster. Prior to getting my Rode N, I was basically using the Socom headset to do voice over, or a cheap USB equivalent. The 7800 version of the game is really fun. One of the best games on the system.

I always wanted to play the PS1 original, and it's Sequel, but never got around to them, however, thanks to this Wii port of the game, I can enjoy this unique point-n-click adventure for the first time. If you're not into these kinds of game, this game won't change your mind. Action gamers will be bored to tears with this and other PnC Adventure games.
Games like these force you to use your noggin, and their gameplay involves solving clues in the game in order to progress. I really like this, and other PnC Adventures, and the Wii has a number of them that are worth exploring, games like Sam and Max, and Zack and Wiki.

This is a series of gameplay vids I'm doing highlighting overlooked games for the PS2.
This is a gameplay vid of Alien Hominid. As you can see, it's an oldschool style 2D sidescroller, and it's got a pretty good difficulty. It's not for the weak gamer, but it is a ton of fun, and it has a unique art style.
It's also available on pretty much every console under the sun. The GC, GBA, Xbox, and etc.
There's even an HD version available on the Xbox 360,
Check the game out. It's a lot of fun.

This is just a gameplay vid of the PS1 version of Rayman 2. This is played on a PS2 with the texture smoothing on.
I've heard there were some cuts made to this port of the game, but I'm not sure, because I don't own any other version. There is also added voice over tracks.
I've heard mixed reports about what version is the best version of Rayman 2, the Dreamcast, or the PS2. I believe the PS2 port had extra content, but I don't remember for sure.
Anyways, it seems that Rayman is now destined to be in a bunch of Mario Party clones instead of a true sequel to the platformer series. It's a shame really, but I guess platformers don't sell as well as mini-game games.

Killzone 2 (PS3)-
As I suspected, this game is good, but extremely over-hyped, but that seems to be the theme of this entire generation of gaming. They hype good games up, and they never live up tot he hype. So far I'm only playing the Single Player of the game, and while I like it, it's nothing revolutionary. Don't get me wrong, so far it's enjoyable, and is one of the better FPS games this gen, but I've played it all before. Not to say there's anything wrong with that, but this game in no way touches classics like Half Life, but very few FPS do.
I haven't gotten around to playing it online as of yet, and I may post some vids of it's online gameplay in action when I do.
Mario Kart: Double Dash (Gamecube)-
I only just got this the other day. I had played it a little previously, but I'm still pretty much learning the game (Hence why I play so badly in this footage. Plus It was on the hardest difficulty, and I hadn't played that difficulty yet). Overall, Mario Kart is a fun game in any form, but I'm still preferential to Mario Kart 64. This game's great fun in single, and especially multiplayer, but MK64 is still my personal favorite in the series.
Mirror's Edge (Xbox 360)-
I finally got my 360 back from my friend that I loaned it too about three months or more back. His red-ringed out, so I let him borrow mine, but he took too damn long to send his out, so I went and got mine back. The main 360 game I own that I was getting massive cravings to play was Mirror's Edge. This is one of my favorite games this gen. I've got my complaints about the game (I wish there was a little bit more allowance for exploration, and sometimes the wall running/jumping controls don't work like they should causing many deaths), but I played through this game three times straight (Medium, Hard, and then I went back to easy) when I got it. There's just something so damn addictive about this game to me. Even though it's very linear, I just enjoy this game a lot. I kinda liken it to the Tomb Raider of this generation.
Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (PS3)-
What can I say about this game? It's about as good as platformers get. If you've got a PS3 and are a fan of the genre, then you need to get this game. I'm finding it to be extremely addictive, and hard to put down. I never got o play the second and third Ratchet games, so I'm not sure if some of the new additions (like the RPGish leveling of your weapons in the game) are carried over from those games, but this is the premier platformer on the PS3, and should be in any fan of the genre's collection. Some people may be put off because it doesn't have any sort of online play, but who in the hell cares? Gaming survived for decades without online play, and this game has an extremely goo
