[588] Epic bust in oil leads to 3rd qtr of shrinking US earnings
French President Francois Hollande threatened to block the TTIP; Ameera David weighs in. Then, Bianca Facchinei takes a look at the parallels between the oil crisis and the telecom bust. Afterwards, RT’s Marina Portnaya reports on the economic fallout from Brazil’s worst environmental disaster involving Brazil's Vale and Anglo-Australian miner BHP Billiton.
After the break, Ameera sits down with Lenore Hawkins to talk about the tricky investment climate, given US corporate revenues are contracting for the fifth consecutive quarter. And in The Big Deal, Ameera and Edward Harrison discuss the desire to inject liquidity into the US government bond market and the coming election in Spain.
Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are taking center stage as special guest Bart Chilton talks to host Lindsay France as we examine the recent ups and downs of bitcoin. Uber has hit another bump in the road in the U.K. as their Tribunal rules that they are employees not contractors. Holland Cooke gives us the holiday shopping forecast as businesses gear up to make big bucks this holiday season.

Our lead story: Last summer a lawsuit was filed by Perry Capital and several other hedge funds which argues that the government is taking too much of the profits from Fannie and Freddie. Perry, and the other funds, own preferred shares in the companies that they believe are worth not so small fortunes if only the government would stop hogging all the profits! Erin takes a look.
Then Erin sits down with former congressman Ron Paul to get his take on US domestic and foreign policy. Paul describes what role he feels the US should play in the world, and also argues that the government should get out of the economy because it's hurting the American recovery.
In today's Big Deal, Edward Harrison and Erin talk about a $24/hr minimum wage proposal in Switzerland. Sounds like a nice payday. Edward gives you his take.

The Slovakian prime minister is saying that the EU will make it very “painful” for the UK to leave, setting an example for other countries. Ameera David has the details. Then, RT Correspondent Peter Oliver reports from Berlin on the latest round of German regional elections, where the right-wing AFD party made more gains at the expense of Chancellor Merkel’s party. Afterwards, Bianca Facchinei breaks down new research showing that Volkswagen may not actually be the worst polluter in Europe, and Alex Mihailovich joins from Toronto with the latest on negotiations between GM and Canadian labor union Unifor.
After the break, former Ronald Reagan Budget Director David Stockman explains why he thinks the ‘Reagan Revolution’ has failed, and how inequality has led to the rise of Donald Trump. And finally, in The Big Deal, Edward Harrison looks at the newest BIS report showing a number of countries with accelerating debt problems, China foremost among them.

West Coast seaports in the US were all but shut down over the holiday weekend because of contract disputes. On Tuesday, US Labor Secretary Tom Peres arrived in San Francisco hoping to broker an agreement between shipping companies and the union representatives for over 20,000 dockworkers on the west coast. The union has insisted the two sides are near an accord. Let’s hope so, because the deadlock has had far reaching implications. Erin weighs in.
Then, Erin is joined by Paul Craig Roberts – chairman of The Institute for Political Economy and former assistant secretary to the Treasury in the Reagan Administration. Paul tells us if the eurozone’s approach to the Greek economic and debt crisis was a failure and explains the connection between capital allocation debt and stock market volatility.
After the break, Erin sits down with Warren Mosler – president of Valance Co., Inc. and chairman of Consulier Engineering. Warren explains what options the Greek government has left as the Eurogroup determines a solution and tells us if he’s hopeful or not for Europe’s economic future.
And in The Big Deal, Erin and “Redacted Tonight” host Lee Camp discuss how big banks pay their employees to work for the government. Take a look!
