"If Love Had Hands" - Cae Gauntt | Rachel Ruf & Waldemar Martens Christmas Cover
2020 has truly been a special year in many ways. I can't remember a time in my life where I felt that society was so much divided and polarized as it is today. For the Christmas season I therefore want to remind myself (and hopefully others) of the one value that stands over all disagreement and divisiveness. As Martin Luther King has put it: "I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear."
Rachel, it has been a pleasure having you as a duet partner for this song that has meant a lot to me for many years. I wish you all a peaceful and healthy Christmas season!
This is the second of two of my original pieces I recorded with the Sofia Session Orchestra. In case you haven´t noticed yet, I just love the sound of a real string orchestra and it has been a geat pleasure to work together with these fantastic musicians. Hope you enjoy it.
Here is the other piece played in the same fromation:

Have you ever wondered how to produce a cover song? I walk you trough the individual steps from the initial idea to the arrangement, recording and mixing. As an example I use a cover song that we recently did for Christmas. You can find the full version here:

Saturday morning Blues Piano improvisation my by son, Jan-Lukas. He just wanted to be on YouTube so badly, so we spontaneously recorded his piano playing. Give him a like and subscribe to the channel, if you enjoyed it. We will create more videos with him ;-)

I got into Flamenco music lately and took the challenge to re-interpret the Cello piece (original by The Rolling Stones) of the currently trending Netflix show, "Wednesday", on the guitar. It turned out to be more difficult than I initially thought. If you like the result and would like to hear more Flamenco music in the future, let me know in the comments.

It was great and fun being part of this debut project of Benita Rahyer. We had some enjoyable time shooting the video with her and my family, as well as recording and mixing. I hope it turned out well :)

This new song from the "Lion King 2019" movie may be less known because it is only played during the end credits. Nevertheless, I think it deserves more attention. Not only for it's catchy melody, but also because of it's great message: It's never too late to give your life a new direction, to leave behind bad things, that happened in the past and start moving to new destinations.
Whether you are 20, 40 or 60 years old. It doesn't matter. All that matters is your willingness to start something new. Start a new career, move to a different place, find a new partner, start a YouTube channel or whatever it is that is relevant for you. And don't let other people put you down. It's never too late!
It was really fun filming this with my family. I hope you can see it in the video. And I hope you like my interpretation of the song :)
