February 15, 2013 Before Mary Jo White was named to head the Securities and Exchange Commission, she was a lawyer defending Wall Street titans including JPMorgan Chase, UBS, General Electric and Microsoft. Before that, she was a federal prosecutor. Of course, transitioning from policing to protecting to policing companies is not illegal — or even all that rare — but it does raise important questions about the integrity of our government watchdogs.
In this broadcast essay inspired by a report from the Project on Government Oversight, Bill introduces us to the latest episode of "As the Door Revolves," starring the SEC and its cozy relationship with hundreds of former employees who've done past or present business with the SEC on behalf of corporations the agency is supposed to regulate.
"Imagine: hundreds with an intimate knowledge of how the [SEC] works, advocating for their clients with friends at the SEC — colleagues who themselves may be looking for a big payoff when they too leave government," Bill says. "It's called 'regulatory capture': the takeover of government agencies by the very corporations they're supposed to keep an eye on."
The Insane World of General Allen:
My father the Oregon Boy who went to Harvard and became a UC Professor of History, recommended I watch General John Allen’s speech at the DNC. He found it to be very powerful.
What I saw was an orgy of American Exceptionalism, with every grave contour profoundly engraved into it.
“That you and the American Military together, can – at this point his face made his feelings clear, as Virgil said to “Found the Empire of the World Forever”
He laid out the benefit of Hillary Rodham Clinton command of an arsenal of exquisite tools under her belt for assuring that none would defy “Civilization and The World Order” When I heard this I could hear the sirens going off at Alex Jones’ infowars.
As if Hillary had a rack of torture tools to probe and poke our adversaries and opponents. This is the danger of become corrupted by the Risk Game aspect of American GeoPolitical domination. Which has happened thoroughly to most American leaders, embodied by people like Henry Kissinger, who led policies that led to the greatest loss of life from political upheaval and war than any other single person after Hitler, Stallin and Mao. Certainly greater than 15 million people. Vietnam, South East Asia, Indonesia. On a more limited scale the middle east, South America and Africa.
He borrowed a line from George C Scott’s Patton, and indeed the Marine John Allen had his reference right there. Men, we have the finest food, the best equipment, the best spirit in the WORLD” Patton stated in his famous speech that George C Scott delivered so masterfully at the beginning of the movie of the same name. One might want to emulate Patton’s military achievements (which thus far General Allen has not been able to demonstrate (thankfully for world peace!), or his attitude in firing up the troops. But to emulate his politics is another matter.
John Allen, like Patton wants to go all the way to Moscow, in his heart of hearts.
Obama, like Roosevelt and Eisenhower realized the horrors this would inflict.
He describes an America that stands unerringly on the side of liberty. The millions of dead and displaced from American Military decisions that might have been better served dealing with at the negotiating table with our adversaris than on the battlefield.
Surely if a General was going to insert the Military Establishment so overtly in the political scene, he should have some awareness of the incredible guilt we bear for having been the primary or a primary contributor in so many countries.

Stop. How do we describe these relationships?
It is truly astonishing the place we find ourselves
On the one hand I see the sweep of progressive delegates
The bizarre interaction between 2 corporate tools, Trump, his associates vs the traditional foreign policy intelligence elites
It is just stunning
A media that essentially is the marketing arm of the military industrial complex. They are not mere stenographers, they are marketers, enhancing the attractiveness of their warped machinations.
The Agency having conducted a huge black propaganda influence campaign to penetrate every major medium with their cultivated relationships, along with the political parties to plant stories and conduct propaganda campaigns.
But it has gotten weirder than that. The senior figures in the black operations of the Agency and FBI now directly tell us what to think. It is incomprehensible.
And now we find a new method of overthrowing governments. Lawfare.
Deligitimize. Sanction. Condemn Mismanagemet. Get sector in society to oppose. If it’s the legislature, impeach, if it’s the judicial, jail them. Brazil, Noriega

Editorial: Reflections on the days events and this new low for American moral degeneracy of our power structures. Our founders abhorred assassination. It is unpatriotic - it represents everything we wanted to get away from when we founded this country - to keep free from venality.

Let you be tried by the standards of international law and Nuremberg should such unnecessarily vile means to resolve a countries path toward self rule triumph! Go to the Devil Sir!

For the first time since the death of Gadaffi the domination of Libyan life by the Qatar and Saudi backed religious fundamentalists has been challenged.
All those fed up with the domination of the Qatari backed forces are falling into an alignment.
If Haftar can mop up the terror that rules the streets of Benghazi his popularity will soar.
If Libya is stabilized under something like martial law, Clinton will benefit, removing a serious obstacle to her obtaining the presidency, namely her failure in diplomacy leading to the first terror state in the world. A state ruled ostensibly by Al Qaeda like formations. Followers of the ideas of qutb, the inspiration for Zawahiri and in turn Bin Laden. The silence of the US Government tends to indicate that the US government is supporting Haftar.
Or at least this is what we are being led to believe.

see http://www.microtopia.org When we consider all the manifold injustices we live under we know in our bones that the present system cannot be reformed from within side.
We must come up with an entirely new system. The prospect of a violent revolution makes one shudder, particularly considering how the current system has concentrated an absolute monopoly of violence.
Those who own the majority of assets control the elections and control the police and armies. They have gradually increased our taxation for military prisons surveillance and armies to 1 in 8 dollars of our economy.
To attempt to confront this overwhelming phalanx of security agencies, armed to the teeth, equipped with nearly unlimited legal power, as our populace has lost its ability to understand what its congress and president are doing to the basis of our freedoms enshrined in the constitution, to confront this phalanx of force with force would be nearly impossible.
There is another fairly simple way.
We can self organize elections using tools such as the internet for a new system of people power. Once our number of votes in a new system exceed the current system, we will have greater legitimacy. At that point it is only a matter of time for the old system to be forced to recognize the new system, if it is done intelligently.
In the mean time, for we the people to regain control over our societies direction must be done using the following approach:
Self organizing to impact local government, and local resource ownership and production, that is through starting businesses and organizations to compete with the current monopoly system.
This means buying services and products that may cost slightly more for the sake of enlightened self interest. Since our vote is effectively worthless, which could be remedied by ratifying Article The First, we must vote with our dollars.
Those who realize that we cannot defeat the system as we did in the past, see the threads of execution that could bring about true liberty and the end of economic insecurity for the people. That it must be done through creating local businesses and gradually painfully pull the equity back from the few to the many.
The 1% only control half of the worlds assets, that means the rest of us control half. In this tug of war we can win.
In your community, a large number of buildings, businesses, and raw land are owned by people and institutions that are not rooted there. Imagine gradually the land, buildings and businesses owned by the local people.

If we don’t do this, the future for the average person could be quite bleak.
Automation means fewer and fewer people are needed to produce the things that are needful. Presently only 25% of the adult population is needed to produce all the basic things we require:
The economy was traditionally divided into 3 sectors: We now would need only 25% of the population to deliver all the major services of the modern economy.
We now are absorbing more and more workers into parasitic industries. Industries, which are needed in a traditional economy. Ironically many of these parasitic industries are in what is called FIRE. Financial Services, Insurance and Real Estate. These services provide very little real value beyond a very minimal percent of the economy.
The economy will indeed create services and jobs left to its own devices. But they are not things we actually need. They will be less and less relevant to people’s needs.
Similarly the largest growth areas of the public sector are security forces. More and more security forces. After all it creates jobs!
Perhaps the economy of the future will be social networking startups, security forces and financial services companies.
But there is an existential threat to the people of the world that automation will gradually displace them, and then we will need massive security forces.
• * *
In short we need to make each bio-region semi autonomous – this will give roles to the people. There will be opportunity. We waste so much on speculative activities that refocusing on productive industries would allow us to be empowered.

1975. A split occurs in the council of 12, with Gadaffi plus 5 others on one side and 6 of the council members on the other. The Gadaffi side prevails. The opponents are put under house arrest. The precise reason for the split is still not entirely understood.
The Government continues to invest in Libyan infrastructure with the oil revenues, but the split damages the Governments popularity. It is still popular but less so.
