Our lead story: Yes, quantitative easing is over. The Fed began reducing the amount it purchased last December and on Wednesday announced it would end its long-running bond purchasing program. And while this closes the door on this particular round of quantitative easing, it is far from clear what will come next. Erin weighs in. Then, Erin is joined by Axel Merk – president of Merk Investments – to talk about the Fed, Europe, and oil. After the Fed ended its third round of large scale asset purchases (aka QE), the equities market and US government yields backed up. Going forward, Axel believes more volatility may be in store as risk premia increase and the market adjusts to a new world without the Fed’s interventions.
