I'm using the SDRPlay RSP1 connected with a USB powered 5 volts DC +30 db Low Noise Amplifier running SDR Console V3 software connected to my DIY Copper Tube Active Loop Antenna on the roof from a height of around 30 feet running 75 feet of LMR 400 low loss coax cable to my basement shack located in Yonkers, New York, USA. It is pretty simple, although you may have to tweak some settings on your radio, for example RF gain. Even though I'm near NYC, I can still listen to shortwave pretty well with this setup.
