I have always wanted to see Yellowstone National Park for myself ever since I was a seven year old boy. Fortunately, I had three others with me who desired to see the park and it's surrounding areas with me. We set off for Idaho Falls and shortly after taking off with our rental we reached our first stop at Targhee National Forest in southeastern Idaho to see upper and lower Mesa Falls.
From there we crossed the Idaho Montana border and entered into West Yellowstone where we stayed, at Wyndham Worldmark. Next day was a fairly cloudy and snowy day limiting our travel plans to almost none. Fortunately we got a taste of winter in the park checking out some Hot Springs. First stop was the Painting Pot Nature Trail, then The Midway Geyser Basin for the Grand Prismatic hot spring and several geysers. Snow eventually came in real hard and we eventually headed back to town for dinner and some local beer.
Third day, we did a large loop around southwest Montana passing through Hebgen Lake and Earthquake Lake. Passing through Ennis and up to the Lewis and Clark Caverns where we took a two hour tour through some beautiful caves. From there we drove through the large towns of Bozeman and Livingston before heading back south through the Roosevelt Arch in Gardiner to Mammoth for some more Hot Springs and back to our place of stay.

For tiny Nauru, it's no surprise that accomodation choices are limited. So I figured, why not see what Airbnb has got to offer!

After a month of attempting self healing of my travel injury, turned out I needed surgery. Recovery is looking good to return to exploration. This is post op recovery week one and two.
Week one: Recovery in bed to allow surgical incision to heal properly and avoid infection. Foot must be propped up on a pillow, ice every two hours as instructed, but most important, rest.
Weight bearing: 0% , tap toe to ground to assist with balance when walking.
Week two: Ability to move around on crutches, exercise foot motion to comfort (Motion is good up to 90 degrees). Wear boot when walking. Showering is possible. Ice as needed if swelling gets bad.
Recovery is looking great!

There is no Hawai’i, without Hawaiians & sad reality is, there are more Native Hawaiians out of Hawaii, then in Hawaii | ‘Living Like a Hawaiian’, slowly comes to life! ? but first…..
I would like you to meet Brandon, the Deputy Head of State at Nation of Hawaii and someone I was blessed to connect with on this culturally immersive voyage through Native Hawaiians.
Ive met hula dancers, humu hula, farmers, native languages speakers, and activists across the islands. But having time with Brandon within the confines of the 45 acres that are Puuhonua o Waimanalo, showed me a whole new side to Kanaka Maoli, politics! Like the late Haunani Trask said , “sovereighty is Government”, meaning this element of Hawaiian culture and narratives, is just as vital as any other for what is the end goal for: Land Back! ✊?
“Living Like A Hawaiian” is a deep years long immersive experience in the cultural elements that thrive today. But it is also very much a documentary like experience into the dark realm of sufferent and pain for Kanaka maoli against the forces of colonialism, militarianism, and 100+ years of anti-aloha aina. All of which have had severe consequences for its indigenous people!?
Putting this project together has been a struggle in itself from trying to fund it, getting translations late or at all, and simply never doing anything like this before. But I am giving it absolute best for whom it’s intended for, kanaka maoli: both on āina and far and wide! ??
Big mahalos to Bumpy, Brandon, and the Nation of Hawai’i for taking the time for this voyager as what they shared beautifully weaves into 20 other Hawaiians time?
