Classical Liberalism is something widely misunderstood and often you will find there are many people who claim to support such a position, however, they don't fully understand what a free market is or perhaps the history, therefore, are easily swayed in the opposite direction. This does not mean that Classical Liberalism is a precursor of Fascism, it merely means that with any system or ideology, you will find people who are misinformed easier to sway the opinion of. Classical Liberalism is something completely opposite to that of fascism as one is inherently collectivist, the other is strongly in defense of individualism, therefore, they are both complete opposites to one another. I hear the term Alt-Right a lot, which is a new term that was created more recently, yet it seems to me that it is really just made up of people of different views. Just because people support the same social policies, does not mean to say they are the same politically or economically, it's a bit like saying socialists who support gay marriage are the same as that of political libertarians, yet the two are the complete opposite of each other. It is because of the mainstream media and state education that people become indoctrinated to believe that the free market is somehow evil or a failure, therefore, we must avoid it at all cost. This is why most people support the mixed economy having been fed a pack of lies about the industrial revolution time period of history and is why people are easily led to the position of strong protectionism under government. This doesn't mean Classical Liberalism is the reason for why they ended up in that position, however. Xexizy has this warped view, unfortunately, that simply because both use the same language against Cultural Marxism and Feminism in general, that this somehow means they are the same, or that both support controlled immigration, therefore, must be the same. I can understand why that may sound reasonable and some may be easily led to follow the alt-right, but those people who do generally didn't understand the position of Classical Liberalism to begin with. People who understand economics are not going to be led to supporting something opposite of capitalism. It is important to note that I find the name 'alt-right' senseless as those who do support a limited small government and free markets may as well just be called Classical Liberals, nothing more, nothing less. It must be said, however, that I have come across many who support national socialism, whether subconsciously they support it or not is irrelevant. I was recently asked the question on the 2008 financial crisis and given the common misconception of the usual claims which are made I felt it was important to cover this for its own particular video. The 2008 financial crisis is quite a complicated topic issue, but for the purpose of this video I have covered the basis of the argument. Many people will falsely claim that the "unregulated markets" caused the problem, as I've noted, this is actually a concession from people to acknowledge capitalism is about the market regulating itself, which is vitally important as the problems that led to the 2008 financial crisis were the exact opposite of that. As I've explained, the crisis is every bit as much to blame on the governments for their protectionism, as well as the lending institutions and investment banks, etc. I've argued many times before that the cause of the crisis was caused by manipulation of the market and legally protected fraud, not to do with regulation, per se.
