It's a new month. I don't do "happy new months". In fact, people who say "happy new month" have a special place in my heart for long lasting side-eyes.
However, it's my first full month of monetization and we have a lot of new members to the YouTube family!
Let's talk about it live. Let's talk about what I have gleaned so far, tips for getting monetized ( I'll surely just jump over this one as I have a video coming this month), the failures (yeap. lots) and finally, the future. At least, the future of this month.
Sit back, relax, let's talk content!

It's hard to make things online. It's hard to make things, period. As much as I enjoy the feeling of having written an article or made a video, I often feel the frustration that comes with taking an idea and bringing it to life.
I've been doing it ever since I remember. From my old blog to Medium, and now YouTube and even a couple of podcasts along the way.
It's easy to feel like you're putting in effort and getting no results, so you might not be cut out for this.
It's easy to throw in the towel and just give up. Maybe you're even thinking of quitting youtube. Maybe you're thinking that this is not the path for you and that all the people who said you shouldn't try were right.
Maybe.
But if you're reading this, it's probably because you don't want to give up. You want to find a way around this creative frustration, and keep making your art online ( or offline).
This "moody" chat is all about what you need to understand about the frustration of content creation and the path forward.
Watch this before you quit YouTube. What this before you quit creating.

June 23rd marked 2 years since I landed at the port of entry in New York. It was dark. After 24 hours of flying, walking and being pretty much confused and scared, I finally landed at the DIA - Denver International Airport.
I made a video about that first year : https://youtu.be/Swm94GomEgs
This one, is a little different. I felt the need to wrap it around a structure because my thoughts around what I have learned so far keep leaning on what I can do with all this information.
1. Taking Action
2. Hard Conversations
3. Losing Subscribers

This is my first time at a car show here in the US. I'm not exactly a car person, but I was a little curious to find out why Americans love cars so much. Of course, this is a generalized statement. Not ALL Americans love cars with a passion.
And from what my friend Willie told me, there's a lot more behind it all than just mindless capitalist obsession.
The car show was in Pueblo.
This is my first vlog. Never thought I'd do this and here we are with me planning my next Saturday escapade for more B-roll and learning how to shoot better. All the moving shots of me talking were taken with my Canon EOS M50 using the kit lens. I decided to try this thing where I use only one lens for any "major" project, so I can master my camera better.
Also, all the music you hear is from Musicbed. Pretty cool huh? I decided to not color grade this as a last-minute concession because I realized that I don't have the skill- yet. In a way, I am willing to sacrifice the look at this time to learn how to tell a story.
While editing this, I realized the gap I had in my knowledge and for some reason, it made me excited, knowing that each time I film and edit one of these, my video skills will grow exponentially.
Plus, I got to use my 18mm Moment Lens (FINALLY!) which I thought was incredibly wide.
With all the footage I got from both my phone (note 9 with moment lens) and my Canon M50), I am surprised I was able to bring this down to below 20 minutes.
Enjoy and let me know which part of the video you liked.

Update: I just realized, after filming this, that Korty crossed a major milestone on her channel. I won't say it, but I think you'd be inspired when you find out. So, go watch her recent video. Hint: it involves money.
I needed inspiration. I had watched this video months ago and I felt, as I was coming back to YouTube this May, that this would be the perfect video to kick things with.
Do you need inspiration? Do you think it is necessary?
Isn't it funny that a video that says" you don't need inspiration" can actually inspire you to create? lol

There's this trend where people of different ages say they have no friends. I have said in my videos that I have very few friends too. In a previous episode, Leslie mentioned why being a friend that can be counted upon was important.
This "short" episode addresses this a little more. In addition, I have an announcement for the podcast.
