This radio came with a broken dial chord on the Short-wave tuning capacitor, and there is no way to get around this tedious task other than going ahead and doing it. The problem is getting the correct tension on the chord. Too tight and it won't allow for comfortable tuning; too loose and it just slips. However, I think I've found a good way to make adjustments after the fact. It may help you too.
Someone also asked about a visual alignment of the IF, and I think it will be interesting to see what shape of curve we got from the previous stage.

The usual problems of old filter caps was sorted out, but here I also decided to replace the selenium rectifier with silicon diodes. Next comes the audio stage, but I decided to do a full re-cap, replacing all the old paper capacitors with good quality foils caps, just to avoid problems with leaky caps on the radio. Does it work? The tubes in this radio seem to be bad, and as this is not one of the radios that I normally work on, I don't have spares on hand. Fortunately, with the many comments that the first video received, I was able to source a complete set in Holland. They should arrive soon, so I turned my attention to the other tasks that need doing. The capacitors all seem to be bad, and their replacement is quite normal. However, I found that many of the resistors also need replacing, so that got put on the list too.
