Berliner Luft [German operetta song][instrumental]
Berliner Luft or Das ist die Berliner Luft is a marching rhythm operetta song written by Paul Lincke in 1904 to a text by Heinrich Bolten-Baeckers. It was initially part of a Berlin Thalia Theater premiered in 1904, quickly disappeared from the game plans, the same two-acter, but soon sounded as an independent piece of music often in the concert halls in and around Berlin. It was not until 1922 that Berliner Luft was included in the course of a full-length expansion in the 1899 premiere, originally one-act operetta Frau Luna.

A reminder of the Thirty Years'War, this piece is also known as the "March of the Pappenheim Horsemen", and refers to General Heinrich Duke of Pappenheim, who in 1623 commanded a regiment of cuirassiers in the Imperial army, and was killed as an ally of Wallenstein at the Battle of Lützen in 1632. The Pappenheimer Marsch was included in the list of historical marches of the Imperial Austrian army, to whose 8th regiment of Dragoons it was assigned.

The melody of the song was written by Max Kunz in 1835. The text for the original first three stanzas was written by Michael Öchsner. Both men were members of the Bürger-Sänger-Zunft München (Citizen-Singers-Guild Munich), that first performed the song on December 15, 1860.
