Good evening, I’m still reporting on the American invasion.
A San Diego TV station is running a story tonight that a threat was posted on Craig’s List tonight showing a pistol firing a bullet with the caption:
“We Need More Orlando’s (San Diego).”
The rather incoherent threat was clearly aimed at San Diego’s LGBT community as the caption continued:
"Orlando was long overdue. Cleanse your community of the filth that gives decent gay men and women a bad name. Those people were walking diseases, bug chasers, and thank god for AIDS and 9-11 and now Orlando. San Diego you are next …"
An alert viewer of 10News took this screenshot of the posting before it was flagged and removed.
San Diego Police Department Lt. Scott Wahl said the cops will investigate the post.
According to Special Agent Darrell Foxworth, the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating as well.
"We are going to use all lawful means available to us, so if we have to go out and get a search warrant, we will do that.
"We don't have the luxury of just looking at this and letting it go."
I’m still reporting from Washington. Good day.
The satellite radio broadcaster, SiriusXM, has suspended Glenn Beck for a week and possibly forever in response to comments calling for the assassination of Donald Trump.
The comments were made on May 25th on live air when fiction author Brad Thor claimed that Trump’s election would cause an “extinction-level event” in the U.S. Thor then declared that if Congress could not – or would not remove Trump legally through impeachment, then Thor suggested that he be assassinated:
“… what patriot will step up and do that….”
Beck agreed with Thor.
It was the second time that Beck has been accused of threatening Trump on air. On March 4, 2016, he talked about stabbing someone repeatedly if given the chance. The Secret Service immediately came to Beck’s studio in Texas to investigate, and Beck was cleared.
In last week’s incident, SiriumXM called the comments “irresponsible.”
“SiriusXM encourages a diversity of discourse and opinion on our talk programs. However, comments recently made by a guest on the independently produced Glenn Beck Program, in our judgement, may be reasonably construed by some to have been advocating harm against an individual currently running for office, which we cannot and will not condone.”
“For that reason, we have suspended The Glenn Beck Program from our Patriot channel for the coming week and are evaluating its place in our lineup going forward.”
Erick Erickson, a conservative pundit who once served as editor-in-chief for RedState, and was a political contributor for CNN, and recently has been associated with hunt for a last second candidate to oppose Trump, published an article on Beck’s website titled “SiriusXM Proves to be Run By Cowards.”
Brad Thor denied he intended any threat against Trump in a lengthy Facebook post:
“Clearly … I was putting my thriller writer hat on and positing a hypothetical scerario….”

Everyone in the U.S. is fascinated by the meteoric rise in popularity of Donald Trump. Like him or hate him, you ARE watching his every utterance.
But can he do it? Can he learn how to tone it down as he gains depth – or even should he?
This country is desperate for a white knight to ride in and rescue America from the whirlwind of decay and destruction we see straight ahead.
That’s a dangerous place to be in history, and I fully understand my responsibility here. But I just can’t stand to see this President time and time again denigrating America’s honorable place in human kind’s 2500 year struggle for freedom.
Political power is a very dangerous thing when the holder of it does not respect its extraordinary responsibilities.
Presidents can easily become intoxicated with it, and, surrounded by their friends – just like Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton before him -- it is nearly impossible to realize when one has crossed the invisible line – the line where you awake the ire of the American sleeping giant.
This president is so used to abusing his power that he has blown way, way across that line – in fact he no longer believes it even exists. Now a forceful leader is the natural result to restore America’s political balance. Is Trump that leader? Is Trump that American strong horse? Only time will tell.
Last night, Rudy Giuliani, the former Mayor of New York -- a man so widely respected that he is known as America’s Mayor -- offered his opinions on Trump’s rise:

Trump was right again. Hillary Clinton has given a total of $75,000 to Vets’ groups. Donald Trump just gave $5.7 million to Vets’ groups – 76 times as much - and all he gets are complaints from the MSM – Mainstream Media – that he didn’t do it more quickly.
For the first 5 months of the year, he’s been up to his neck in a very rough and tumble presidential primary campaign and Trump doesn’t just throw money around in order to please the MSM. He had to vet every group and you think his relatively small staff has nothing better to do?
So this week, he announced the awardees, cut the checks, and now a Boston TV station has run a really nice story on just what impact one of the smaller donations had on a small but dedicated veterans group locally:

Apple CEO Tim Cook, in a letter posted yesterday entitled, “A Message to Our Customers”, says the Obama Administration has demanded that Apple build in a back door to its highly-effective encryption system so that law enforcement can more effectively counter terrorism.
This is a classic case of giving up liberty for security.
Fortunately, Apple told the government, No. No one knows how the administration will react, so Cook is reaching out to the public for support for whatever reaction may come.
“For many years, we have used encryption to protect our customers’ personal data because we believe it’s the only way to keep their information safe. We have even put that data out of our own reach, because we believe the contents of your iPhone are none of our business.”
“When the FBI has requested data that’s in our possession, we have provided it. Apple complies with valid subpoenas and search warrants, as we have in the San Bernardino case. We have also made Apple engineers available to advise the FBI, and we’ve offered our best ideas on a number of investigative options at their disposal.”
“ But now the U.S. government has asked us for something we simply do not have, and something we consider too dangerous to create. They have asked us to build a backdoor to the iPhone.”
“Specifically, the FBI wants us to make a new version of the iPhone operating system, circumventing several important security features, and install it on an iPhone recovered during the investigation. In the wrong hands, this software — which does not exist today — would have the potential to unlock any iPhone in someone’s physical possession.”
“Building a version of iOS that bypasses security in this way would undeniably create a backdoor. And while the government may argue that its use would be limited to this case, there is no way to guarantee such control.”
“We can find no precedent for an American company being forced to expose its customers to a greater risk of attack. For years, cryptologists and national security experts have been warning against weakening encryption. Doing so would hurt only the well-meaning and law-abiding citizens who rely on companies like Apple to protect their data.”
Then Cook makes what is probably THE most important point in this cyber drama:
“Criminals and bad actors will still encrypt, using tools that are readily available to them.”
Right! It’s just like those who want to take away guns – they only take them away from the law-abiding public – the criminals will get them anyway.
The biggest problem that Cook exposes is that Obama is willing to force Apple to write this hack through an executive order, instead of going through Congress.
“Rather than asking for legislative action through Congress, the FBI is proposing an unprecedented use of the All Writs Act of 1789 to justify an expansion of its authority.”
“The government would have us remove security features and add new capabilities to the operating system, allowing a passcode to be input electronically. This would make it easier to unlock an iPhone by “brute force,” trying thousands or millions of combinations with the speed of a modern computer.”
“The implications of the government’s demands are chilling. If the government can use the All Writs Act to make it easier to unlock your iPhone, it would have the power to reach into anyone’s device to capture their data.”
“The government could extend this breach of privacy and demand that Apple build surveillance software to intercept your messages, access your health records or financial data, track your location, or even access your phone’s microphone or camera without your knowledge.”
At this point, knowing President Obama’s proclivities, I would not trust anything he wants to do. Tim Cook says Apple will oppose the order. He doesn’t specify whether this means a government lawsuit, or worse, a criminal indictment. But Apple needs our support. They are the only major Telecom who has not given in to building in backdoors in the past.
“Opposing this order is not something we take lightly. We feel we must speak up in the face of what we see as an overreach by the U.S. government.”
“We are challenging the FBI’s demands with the deepest respect for American democracy and a love of our country. We believe it would be in the best interest of everyone to step back and consider the implications.”
“While we believe the FBI’s intentions are good, it would be wrong for the government to force us to build a backdoor into our products. And ultimately, we fear that this demand would undermine the very freedoms and liberty our government is meant to protect.”
I’m still reporting from Washington. Good day.
Good evening, I’m still reporting on politics.
Last night, I muted Hillary Clinton’s acceptance speech, but as I worked, I sort of watched it.
Every time I looked, it seemed like the really evil part of her nature came through more obviously without the sound on.
About 10 mins after she walked off the stage, Donald Trump fired off a series of 5 tweets off the top of his head that pretty much summed up Hillary Clinton.
At 11:47pm Trump tweeted out:
“Hillary's refusal to mention Radical Islam, as she pushes a 550% increase in refugees, is more proof that she is unfit to lead the country.”
Three minutes later came this one:
“Our way of life is under threat by Radical Islam and Hillary Clinton cannot even bring herself to say the words.”
11:50 PM - 28 Jul 2016
Two minutes later:
“Hillary will never reform Wall Street. She is owned by Wall Street!.”
Then another 2 minutes later:
“Hillary's vision is a borderless world where working people have no power, no jobs, no safety.”
And then the final tweet of the Trump Twitter storm came at 11:57:
“Hillary's wars in the Middle East have unleashed destruction, terrorism and ISIS across the world.”

Donald Trump has demanded an apology from Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg after her unprecedented derogatory comments were published by CNN yesterday.
Ginsburg called Mr. Trump “a faker” who has “an ego” who has been treated too gently by the press.
On Friday in an interview with the New York Times, Justice Ginsburg, aged 83, said that she couldn’t imagine the impact a Trump presidency would have:
“For the country, it could be four years. For the court, it could be – I don’t even want to contemplate that.”
Ginsburg was nominated to the highest court in the land by President Bill Clinton in 1993 – 23 years ago. She is known as the most leftist judge on the Supreme court.
Donald Trump commented that criticism of a presidential candidate in an election season by a member of the Supreme Court is unprecedented.
“I think it’s highly inappropriate that a United States Supreme Court judge gets involved in a political campaign. It’s a disgrace to the court, and I think she should apologize to the court. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it.”
Richard W. Painter, a professor of law at the Univ. of Minnesota said in this morning’s New York Times that Ginsburg’s criticism could undermine the moral authority of the Supreme Court.
“It is really unwise of her to do this. This is not a good situation, and I think that she would have been well advised not to have made any of those comments.”
Prof. Painter said that her comments could lead to calls for to step aside in future decisions coming before the court where a conflict of interest may be claimed.
Yesterday on Legal Ethics Forum, a website devoted to ethical issues among attorneys, Steven Lubet, a legal scholar, suggested that the Supreme Court should immediately adopt a code of conduct prohibiting political commentary as a result of the Ginsburg dustup.
“Even if it were unenforceable, a code would at least formalize public expectations for the justices’ conduct,” wrote Lebet.

Good afternoon, I’m Still reporting on the economy.
The Royal Bank of Scotland, in a note to investors dated last Friday, made a rather unusual and ominous warning for investors – get out of the stock market!
In a note called European Rates Weekly, RBS predicts a 10-20% decline in stock markets and recommends investors jump into government bonds.
“We think investors should be afraid that the ominous outlook for the world in our “Year Ahead” [letter] has been borne out … over the past six weeks.
“This hardens our … deflationist views…. This all looks similar to 2008. In a crowded hall, exit doors are small. Risks are high.”

So yesterday was a dark day in the history of the Iowa Caucuses. Bill O’Reilly and Bernie Goldberg of FoxNews concluded that some Ted Cruz dirty tricksters may have manipulated the Republican caucus to steal the victory from Donald Trump.
On the Democrat side, Bernie Saunders is not letting up on the coin-toss caucus, and now he is joined by the most important newspaper in Iowa, the Des Moines Register, which called for an audit of the Democratic caucus results in the strongest possible terms. The editorial reads in part:
“What happened Monday night at the Democratic caucuses was a debacle, period. Democracy, particularly at the local party level, can be slow, messy and obscure. But the refusal to undergo scrutiny or allow for an appeal reeks of autocracy.”
“The Iowa Democratic Party must act quickly to assure the accuracy of the caucus results, beyond a shadow of a doubt.”
“First of all, the results were too close not to do a complete audit of results. Two-tenths of 1 percent separated Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. A caucus should not be confused with an election, but it’s worth noting that much larger margins trigger automatic recounts in other states.”
“Second, too many questions have been raised. Too many accounts have arisen of inconsistent counts, untrained and overwhelmed volunteers, confused voters, cramped precinct locations, a lack of voter registration forms and other problems. Too many of us, including members of the Register editorial board who were observing caucuses, saw opportunities for error amid Monday night’s chaos.”
“The Sanders campaign is rechecking results on its own, going precinct by precinct, and is already finding inconsistencies, said Rania Batrice, a Sanders spokeswoman. The campaign seeks the math sheets or other paperwork that precinct chairs filled out and were supposed to return to the state party. They want to compare those documents to the results entered into a Microsoft app and sent to the party.”
“Let’s compare notes. Let’s see if they match,” Batrice said Wednesday.
“Dr. Andy McGuire, chairwoman of the Iowa Democratic Party, dug in her heels and said no. She said the three campaigns had representatives in a room in the hours after the caucuses and went over the discrepancies.”
“McGuire knows what’s at stake. Her actions only confirm the suspicions, wild as they might be, of Sanders supporters. Their candidate, after all, is opposed by the party establishment — and wasn’t even a Democrat a few months ago.
Break silly party tradition and release the raw vote totals. Provide a list of each precinct coin flip and its outcome, as well as other information sought by the Register. Be transparent.”
So between the potential for Microsoft manipulation and the State Democrat Party doing whatever they can to muddy the waters for their own purposes, the Dems side of the Iowa caucuses looks completely broken.
