SR 940 Law Professor Backs Trump’s Charge of Judicial Bias
Washington, DC law professor Victor Williams says that Donald Trump was right again. U.S. District Court judge Gonzalo Curiel does have a conflict of interest overseeing the Trump University case due to his affiliation with a group that advocated for illegal immigrants.
According to Professor Williams:
“It doesn’t matter whether Mr. Curiel’s membership and active role in the San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association does create an actual bias.
“The standard is that judge’s must be above reproach, therefore he must step aside if there could be even an appearance of a conflict of interest.”
“Mr. Trump has taken a strong stance against illegal immigration and made it the centerpiece of his presidential campaign,” said Williams, a professor of law at Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
“The judge’s affiliation with the La Raza Lawyers Association, absolutely meets the standard because he has specifically participated in events where illegal aliens were celebrated – even honored with scholarships.”
I’m still reporting from Washington. Good day.
