Gratitude is especially important right now, but it's also important when times aren't so troubled. Approaching your day from a position of gratitude will help you keep things in a healthier perspective. Even when times are tough, there are great things in your life. Focusing on those will make it easier to deal with the things that aren't so great.

I'm gonna share how shaving my beard almost lead me to a job hunt. Shaving wasn't the only factor in pushing me to this point, but I hate shaving enough that shaving every day makes consider new employeement.
We have things we value in life but all to often we don't weigh them heavily enough when making our choices. Then we look around and realize we've built a life we don't want.
I'm trying to restructure my life in a way that is more in tune with the things I value, rather than what I'm told to value. Hopefully my little escapade helps you look at your life in a new light.

It's a fair question. Why should you chew your food?
Most of us don't think too much about chewing our food, but it's actually pretty important. There are several good reasons to chew your food well past the point you can just swallow it.
1. Your digestion works much more efficiently the more your food is chewed. If you swallow big chunks of food, it's going to take a long time to leave you stomach and you're going to limit the amount of nutrition you can get from it.
2. Feeling full takes time. Up to 20 minutes even. If you eat too fast you'll eat well past the point you're full. Eating slower helps better regulate your appetite.
3. Movement and use of your jaw muscles are essential to their health. Teeth, bones, and muscles require stimulation to remain useful. Sucking down smoothies all day deprives them of this stimulation.
4. Don't forget to give yourself time for you. Eating is one of the best excuses there is. Take time to enjoy your meal and chewing more gives you plenty of time to do that!

Today we say goodbye to our ferrets Finian Bearret and Thelma Weaselton. We put Thelma down last night and Fin left us in February. So it is with a heavy heart both our weasels are gone. They will be deeply missed, but we wanted to share their wonderfulness with you. They were little lights in our lives and their loss can't be measured. I hope you enjoy these clips in remembrance of our little terrors, Finian Bearret and Thelma Weaselton. We love you both.

Today I want to share with you some exercises to open up your hips! The side bent sit, and variations working within that position are a great way to stretch out your hips. Tight hips are a major mobility problem with most people and they can lead to all kinds of aches and pains.
The side bent sit is one of my favorite sitting positions to open up your hips. But it's not just a stretch! It's a natural movement you can use to build more hip mobility. Variations of the side bent sit reverse can help release muscles in the hip as well as create more mobility and stability when done regularly! All too often changing old habits and starting a new healthy lifestyle is complicated. Not to fear! Today I'm offering 2 simple tips to improve your health. In fact, these 2 tips are so simple you can start now!
Simple tip number 1 is just to move more. The average American spends 6-8 hours a day sitting! This has some pretty major long-term health implications. So, if you want to improve your health, you're going to have to move more. No need to get fancy. Start by going for a walk every day. If you can get out into nature while you do it, all the better.
Simple tip number 2 is to cut back the sugar. Sugar is in everything and if you're spending tons of time sitting, you don't need it. Start with a food log for a week so you can get an idea of how much sugar you're eating. Next, try to cut that amount by half. This can actually have a dramatic effect on your nutrition!

Looking to start a movement practice? There are 3 things you should really keep in mind. You're going to need consistency, attention, and variety.
You need to be consistent. Do something everyday, otherwise you won't make progress.
You need to be attentive or won't build good movement habits and will instead re-enforce poor movement habits.
And lastly you need variety. If you're doing the same movement day in and day out, you're not exposing your body to all the stimulation it needs.

Today I'm sharing another beginner natural movement session. This movement session is suitable focuses on balance and stability and doesn't require any equipment. Well... maybe a yoga mat if you want it.
This will be another groundwork movement session. Even if you don't have any experience with natural movement you should be able to jump into this session.
Just remember to only do what you can and modify the positions if you need to. Don't force the movements and do what you can do. It'll get easier every time you do it!
