It's beneficial to be patient and flexible, even when your immediate environment is in disarray. Zed isn't too worried that his favorite morning nap spot is being rained upon. He knows where it's coming from. He'll return later, when it's drier.
We use an inexpensive, small sprinkler to spot water plants that prefer moist soil. It's easy to regulate the height and spread, using only water pressure. Like the dew, always water early in the morning when possible.
Behavioral psychologist B.F. Skinner coined the term "operant conditioning". It means modification of behavior via positive and negative reinforcement. An "authority figure" is required for this method to work. This video was made 10 years ago.
In operant conditioning, rewards and punishments are doled out in order to create behavior modification.
In classical conditioning, responses are programmed by creating associations with stimuli.
Neither of these takes into account the ability of the human mind to imagine, to conceive, or to think outside the box.
Zed makes use of what's available at any given time. Cabbage leaves make great drinking cups after a rain shower. We can all be this resourceful, if we choose to be! :-)

Zed is meditative as takes a morning stroll through the garden to see what plants have awakened. He takes note of new planting areas, checking for emerging seedlings, and finally settles in his favorite spot by the Buddha in the shade bed. Daily wisdom: *All is as it should be*.
