Apple Arcade MASSIVE Updates
Apple Arcade launched at Apple’s, lets be honest, pretty weird services event a while back when they also talked about Apple Card and a bunch of other stuff, and in all honesty it was a great concept that was underwhelming executed, a bit like AppleTV+. There were a handful of great games but there seemed to be quite a lot of filler. But since then Apple has quietly been adding more and more games, and over the weekend has dumped 30 games across various different genres and target audiences onto the platform and its suddenly something to really take note of.

So the latest additions are:
NBA 2K 21 Arcade edition,
Star Trek Legends,
Wonderbox: The Adventure Maker
Clap Hanz Golf
Taiko no Tatsujin Tap Beat
Simon’s Cat Story Time (Homescape?)
The Oregon Trail
SongPop Party
World of Demons
Cut the rope remastered
Fantasian
Badland+
Blek+
Fruit Ninja Classic+
Monument Valley+
The Room Two+
Chess - Play & Learn+
Reigns+
Chameleon+
Threes!+
Don’t Stave:Pocket Edition+
Flipflop Solitare+
Backgammon+
Good Sudoku+
Checkers Royal+
Mahjong Titan+
Really Bad Chess+
SpellTower+
Tiny Crossword+
Solitare by MobilityWare+
Sudoku Simple+

I’m glad they’ve made this change though as it allows them to bring more recognisable characters and IP in general that will help to grow the platform.

Its interesting too that among the bigger names in there and more Arcade style games, you have a segment of more traditional games like Marjong, Sudoku and of course Solitaire, which I think its designed to push users more towards this family plans, as its pushing into those games that older users may prefer and while the games were most likely available ad supported before, this will massively improve the user experience. Even adding the absolute classic “The Oregon Trail” in its updated form is a massive nostalgia hit.

I have to say, there are amazing free games like Call of Duty Mobile on Apple’s platform, but there are constant prompts to buys loot crates and battle passes, which is the great thing about Apple Arcade - there are NO add ons or advert interruptions. It fits perfectly for Apple in pushing the whole “we don’t want your data” narrative as they’re not trying to advertise to you, and I think a LOT of Apple users who value privacy in that way will be willing to pay the $4.99 a month to have high quality games that not only are interruption free, but protect your privacy better too.

These changes have finally pushed me to pick up a game controller which
