Marvel Zombies Retrospective: Marvel Zombies 2
Well after all those side dishes, it's back to the main course as we dive into Marvel Zombies 2!
Set decades after the original, the zombies have eaten the entire universe! No joke, all life has been devoured! Now with nothing else to eat, they finally realize that Tony Stark made a dimensional portal back in Dead Days. Maybe they can repeat Zombie Reed Richards idea of going to other universes!
Meanwhile on earth, T'Challa is trying to keep the little community they've formed going but it's clear it's barely holding on, especially with Cortez's son Malcolm wanting to usurp the throne for himself. After an assassination attempt, T'Challa is forced to be zombified by the Wasp to save him. Not long after the two are able to hold off the hunger to be safe, the Cosmic zombies show up! And when they do, Spidey and Luke Cage reveal they are fed up, they don't feel the hunger anymore and they join the humans to stop them! It's Zombie Civil War!
Come and see how things all play out! But be forewarned...this story appears to be to the Marvel Zombies what Beneath the Planet of the Apes was to that franchise...an attempt to write everything into a corner to bring finality to it all! Yeah as we know, Kirkman wasn't successful in that...but this story is still grand nonetheless.

Continuing our King Kong-Trospective, Ingrid & I dive into one of the earliest movie sequels with Son of Kong! How does it hold up? Well they rushed this out in less than a year and it shows HARD! It has its charm but...it doesn't set any GOOD standards.
After his disastrous venture with the giant ape King Kong, promoter Carl Denham (Robert Armstrong) flees New York to avoid indictment from a grand jury. He sails off with friend Captain Englehorn (Frank Reicher) and soon gets involved with singer Helene Peterson (Helen Mack). When a crooked sea captain kills Helene's father, she stows away on board Denham's boat, which heads to Kong's home on Skull Island. There, the group befriends Kong's son -- who defends them against the resident dinosaurs.

GOOD LORD! This movie was a train wreck! One of the worst Kaiju movies we've seen that didn't have any stock footage!
Mothra Leo and the cosmos are back, and Belvera is going after a new monster...some human villains are involved...the kids are annoying...maybe atlantis...this movie just had almost nothing going for it!
Just watch out video! See how we react! It'll do more justice than my words could!

Before seeing Across the Spider-Verse, Ingrid & I decided to see another amazing movie w/ a similar Animation Style. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is as awesome as people say it is! It didn't have to be made this good but it was! 10/10 again!
Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for adventure has taken its toll when he learns that he has burnt through eight of his nine lives. Puss sets out on an epic journey to find the mythical Last Wish and restore his nine lives.

Out of ANY movie adaptation I'd ever expect to find enjoyable...the LAST I'd ever expect would be one about DORA THE EXPLORER!
Yeah! The pre-school kids show from Nickelodeon gets a movie adaptation...one that features an teenage Dora! Yeah an idea that was done as a parody by College Humor gets used for a movie...okay that's a big unfair. It's not AS edgy as the College Humor video but it has parallels. We see an older Dora that acts just like she does in the show among a world that finds her being very weird.
And the funny thing is...it works! And not just on a pre-school level, not just on a "For kids" level...but for all ages even adults! The acting was fun, the humor, for the most part, was good, the story was good too!
So see me and my friend Ingrid talk about what we thought about this movie in a spoiler filled review.

This is it! After going through so much Godzilla media! It's all come down to this! Our final retrospective and our final ranking of the entire franchise!
The Showa Era gave us a great starting point and, while there were FAR more good movies than there were bad, the movies people think about as bad DO come from this era!
The Heisei Era gave us a linear story, with a beginning and an end, that gave us some of the best godzilla writing in the franchise as well as some amazing interpretations of classic characters
The Millenium era had highs and lows but allowed creators to tell different interpretations without being bogged down in continuity.
The Reiwa Era...still has barely begun but Shin Godzilla is still a very fresh and original telling
The Monsterverse shows what happens when you put fans in charge of Godzilla (1998 proved what happened when you didn't) and gave us HANDS DOWN one of the very best movies in the series!
