I found my old IPhone 3GS in a drawer while cleaning up around the house and noticed that the battery was extremely swollen. I believe that the swollen battery is not a problem as it is totally discharged but I was afraid of someone trying to charge it up and it exploding. Better safe than sorry!
This video will quickly go over the operating principles of PIR sensors to get you to the point of being able to play with them yourself!
These neat little units that can be had for dirt cheap on EBay take the infrared energy that is thrown off of your body in order to trigger a logic (3.3v) level output, which can be used to activate a multitude of devices!
There are a few caveats however;
1: the power supply must be stable, I added a 470uF capacitor across the prower rails
2: the unit needs a few minutes to stabilize once it is powered up
3: there is a built-in time delay before it will re-trigger again
I'm sure that you will figure it out easily enough and be making your own projects in no time!

Taking a look at a constant current DC load sent to me by Banggood.com for review. The physical construction is quite nice with a beefy heatsink, decent mosfet and a temperature controlled fan. The biggest downside is the user interface and the user experience. I believe its one saving grace is that it is regularly inexpensive, cheaper than any other electronic load capable for 150W!
