Here's a video of me jumping chairs, outside of the holding of "Noah" movie, 2012. "Holding" is where extras aka BackGround (BG) actors hang out in between takes of a movie, TV show, or commercial. It's essentially a hang-out area.
The scene we, the hundreds-of-extras, were in involved us, portraying refugees, running towards Noah's Ark. We worked overnights, sometimes 12-14 hours, for a period of 3 weeks. A lot of the time was spent sitting, standing, wandering around in holding.
So, we occupied our time doing different things. I set up chairs and ran and jumped over them. It was cold outside, around 40's and 50's.
The scene that I was in, along with hundreds of other extras playing refugees, was the one where we are running towards the ark. They used overhead rain system to spray rain on us. It was freezing. The cold temperature and the cold water falling on us, coupled with the fact that most of the refugees were skinny and small (that's what they wanted, that type) led to a few people having to leave set, as they were nearing hypothermia. It was a crazy shoot.
