I defile one of my favourite and smoothest quads to make the split smooth... will it finally sort out the jello issues ?
If you've watched the whole video and still want to buy a split, then I bid you good luck, but I do think you may be slightly deranged. But anyway, if you want one I got this split direct form RunCam here http://shop.runcam.com/runcam-split/
You can of course also purchase from RunCam's partners, so make sure you shop around (affiliate links used)

I recently reviewed the HDZero goggles and briefly flew this little whoop. Now it's time to take a proper look at the quad, set it up properly, and fly it around. Let's see how it performs.
This quad (and the goggles) were kindly supplied by https://yourfpv.co.uk/ so please take a look at the website if you are in the market for FPV gear.

The first flight of the day, just coming in and I've misorientated myself against the wrong carpark and mistaken us for a Shetland Pony. Easily done... no harm done though and a nice days flying, proper video to follow

Enjoy as I mumble my way through the very simple way you can move your models/settings over from a er9x.open 9x based radio to the Taranis.
Obviously a few gotchas in doing this. The other thing to double check is that any switch settings you had may have moved a bit, so check those.
If you want to get drunk while watching this, just take a shot every time I say "basically" and you'll be completely waster before the end of the video
There's a pretty nice manual for Open TX especially for the Taranis here http://code.google.com/p/opentx/wiki/OpenTx_FrSky_EN#Telemetry

I said I'd be back to try 6S, and here it is... albeit in a slightly bodged way. But never mind, what could possibly go wrong :D
Well, we could get a motor desync and it fall out of the sky... for example. This is my take on what's happening at least, but I'm certainly open to opinions and suggestions for fixing. I should just work out of the box of course, but that's just wishful thinking. A bit of a shame really, as the sluggishness that I experienced in 4S is gone - so the motor KV needs 6S even if the ESCs don't want to play nicely.

With flying days few and far between, we ventured out into the gusty cold wind, got cold, and had some flights full of panic and worry. On the plus side, you get to see how well your model can handle some conditions.
I thought this was a useful illustration of how the Naza compass works. Most people thing of the GPS add on being used for GPS hold, and RTH, but it also handles course correction. Basically the compass knows if you are holding your stick in a certain direction, then you should go that way, so Naza makes corrections to ensure you don't drift off the compass line. In a windy day, as you'll see, this means flying around at curious angles.
With thanks to krikey for his ground station recording (although I didn't get the same level of breakup on the turn in my goggles)

On test today are HGLRC's new Thor range of charging/discharging gear. A 4 port parallel charge board with an in-built discharge module, and the standalone version of the discharge module. As it's raining outside and I can't fly, I'll charge and discharge some lipos!
These products were kindly supplied by HGLRC for review, so please check out the (affiliate) links for more details.

What happens when you have a day off, and it's pissing down with rain. You take a look at your old videos and have a bit of a laugh. Some old crashes in here, and a few new ones. All the AXN crashes are LOS, 99% of the others are FPV... a say that, but I think I'd fly better with my eyes shut... I mean it can't get much worse.
I happened to have a tune in my head, and wondered if I could put something together around it. Weirdly, I found myself not quite having enough crashes to make a good job of it. However, this should still work quite well as a deterrent when someone suggest I have a go on their EasyStar.

It's another Tyro, this time a 6" model, but with a GPS as well. I decided to do a few little extra bits on this one, like connect up to make the VTX talk SmartAudio and use F.Port for telemetry (video to follow) so join me in this build, fly and review video !
The quad was kindly supplied by Banggood for review, so please use this (affiliate) link to take a look at the full product details https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-Tyro119-250mm-F4-OSD-6-Inch-3-6S-DIY-FPV-Racing-Drone-PNP-w-Caddx-Turbo-F2-1200TVL-Camera-p-1584996.html?p=E81211714085201408XQ&utm_source=Youtube&utm_medium=cussku&utm_content=tanghao&utm_campaign=wayne
While I was just checking the link for the product, I found the TPU session + GPS mount as well (although thingiverse is worth a check if you can print TPU yourself) https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-Tyro119-Tyro129-Part-3D-Printing-TPU-Camera-Mount-for-Runcam-3-Gopro-Session-Camera-GPS-p-1611281.html?p=E81211714085201408XQ&utm_source=Youtube&utm_medium=cussku&utm_content=tanghao&utm_campaign=wayne
