This video is of the first time really running the 47. The other videos show it running briefly, only to discover some problem or another. The last time I had it running, a C clip was missing in the back of the fan shaft, which caused the fan to go flying into the radiator, which was the cause for the teardown (as shown in the video). That time running was the first time that it was properly timed and with its rebuilt mag, so being able to up the RPMs for the first time was more then it could handle. There's still a LOT to be done, but as you can see it is running and slowly getting there... This was probably the first time that tractor has been moving this much under its own power in at least 30-40 years.

In this video I give a walk-around and explanation of the equipment we use to get the hay crop in.
The hay equipment consists of a CaseIH WD2303 Windrower (swather), Ford F-350 7.3 Diesel, John Deere 4640 with Hesston 4790 large square baler, John Deere 5020 with wagons, John Deere 4020 Diesel PowerShift with loader, John Deere 3020 Diesel PowerShift with loader, John Deere 2010 Utility with three-point hay rake, and a John Deere 4230 with Hesston V-Rake.
Getting the hay crop up isn't an easy task. It takes a lot of man hours and is quite labor intensive. You're also fighting the weather & hoping to beat the next storm, as a simple rain storm can really damage a good hay crop.
Anyway, the dialog is unscripted, so please forgive any muttering and mistakes. :)

The snow was starting to get a little hard to go through for the Model A, so I switched to the larger 730 Diesel. This is a 1960 model year. The 730 handles it quite nicely (as it should, given that it's quite a larger tractor than the A).
Video shows the feeding of 3x4x8 large square bales to Hereford and Angus beef cattle.

It's good to run old equipment every now and then. Otherwise when you need to use it, you have to spend a lot of time getting it working again. We haven't used this thing in a few years, but we may be needing to use it again in the not too distant future.

I needed to warm the engine up on the G to circulate some newly added coolant (they don't have a pump, so you have to get them hot for it to circulate). We received a lot of snow last night, but it warmed up some and was getting wet by the time I took this.

In this video I use the 1951 John Deere model A to feed cattle. I feed with a custom built feeder (it was once a home-made round bale plastic bagger).
As much as I hate talking on video, I tried to explain some of what was going on and a bit of the hardware.
The model A is one if my favorite of the two-cylinder machines, as it is a great machine that feels "two-cylinder" as it gets. Okay, personal opinion there, but it's mine to give. :)

A neighbor's cow died in our field, so I was hauling it off to where they are disposed of. I feel bad for the cow, but it was a good excuse for a nice October drive across the dry farm. Pulling it with a 1950 John Deere Model G.

New to the collection is a 1950 John Deere Model G. This is a video of picking up the tractor, hauling it home, and a few first runs/idle speeds.
