There are 500+ places of interest in the UK under the National Trust banner and I will be attempting to visit as many as I can, reporting as I do all the important stuff relative to accessibility. Tintagel castle is actually English Heritage, so I got my wires crossed and presumed it was NT because the OLD POST OFFICE is just down the road. I think I may have gone to visit for free, oh well. It was not really very accessible but the guys did their best to get my scooter down the hill to the bottom, at £2 each way. You would need to be able to board a land rover, otherwise, the visit will be impossible. The site of Tintagel Castle has been inhabited at least since the late Roman period, and a community flourished here in the 5th to 7th centuries. In the 12th century Tintagel gained literary fame when Geoffrey of Monmouth named it as the place where King Arthur was conceived. These Arthurian associations may have inspired Richard, Earl of Cornwall, to build a castle at Tintagel in the 1230s, and the enduring legend still ensures Tintagel’s international renown. Then we heard that Fern and the kids had finished playing, and could not leave because I was told I had to pay after playing! Tad popped up and paid the bill so they could go.
