Oh hey, it's Sonic Pocket Adventure for the Neo Geo Pocket Color, that one Sonic game I always heard about but never got to play. But that problem has been solved (kind of) with this HD remake! Made with the epic Open Sonic SMS engine, this fan game is quite short, good level design so far though! There's a lot of potential for more, and what's here so far is promising. What better Mario clone on the PC is there than SuperTux? This game is a classic, in development for almost 20 years! And it features the Linux penguin himself, Tux. (So of course, this game can be played on Linux.) I heard great things about this game, so we'll see how much Tux has to offer! This is just part 1 of what will probably be a longer let's play series. So far it's simple fun... not too challenging, but the levels are creative enough to keep me engaged. A quick but decent fan game that has some potential, Sonic and the Unknown Planet is made by JackTeam and Burian. This game uses the Core Framework, so the physics here are nice! The zone in this game, named, well... "Test Zone," has a good look to it with the dark background, and the foreground elements from different zones somehow blend together fine. But I won't lie and say there's much to this 1 act demo. Though the level design starts out fairly good, you can tell it gets rushed towards the end. So, keep in mind that this is just a small preview. But for what it is? I like Sonic and the Unknown Planet so far. Definitely could use some work, but it looks to be headed in the right direction. A fan game based on Labyrinth Zone! What could go wrong? Well, I liked this one actually, so I guess not much did. This is the dev's first game, and the first level he's ever made! Maybe I'm not an expert on level design, but I was surprised with how much fun I had. Labyrinth Zone RE drops you right into the level, with an awesome remix of the Labyrinth music! You would expect this experience to be more difficult, but I didn't have too much trouble with it. There are a few challenging platforming sections, but the underwater sections aren't that hard. I was preparing for a much more challenging experience overall, but I like that this is easier (as technically, Labyrinth is the first level in this game). Also, I expected this one to be quite short since it's only 1 level, but it actually went on for awhile, and there's a decent bit of exploration! So, I'd say it's worth playing through once or more. This game is made with Unity, thanks to Sonic Realms! And I believe this is the first fan game I've played using this engine. To me, it felt nearly the same as playing any other recent fan game, physics-wise, so I'm not disappointed there. Well, the one downside with Sonic games made with Sonic Realms is they might not run on low-end computers as well as Sonic games made with a more common engine (like Sonic Worlds Delta, or Core Framework). That being said, it still ran better than I expected. Overall, I had fun with this game, even if water levels aren't my favorite. But if you're a fan of Labyrinth, you'll probably like this one! ^^ Side note: by the way, there's another recent fan game based on Labyrinth like this, which I might play soon.
