Did you know that old style grill brushes send hundreds of people to the hospital annually. Small pieces of metal break off, stick to the grill surface and end up on food. They are then consumed and can cause severe problems, sometimes right away sometimes not for several days or weeks. The Gven Bristle Free Grill Brush solves this problem.

We skipped yesterday due to a lot of work we had to get done this weekend but we are back today and the snow, sleet and ice is with us. In spite of the winter weather the ducklings don't really seem bothered. They are rocking on and seem to be enjoying the snow. One more example of how much tougher ducklings are compared to chicks.
We have also selected names for the two additional Muscovy drakes from all the suggestions from viewers. Since the big drake is Arnold (as in Schwarzenegger) one viewer suggested Hans and Franz from the Saturday Night Live skit "Pump You Up" http://bit.ly/1EICYAq

NOTE - do not bother saying shit like "I didn't subscribe to your channel for content like this". I don't care why you subed. My channel is a variety of things all around my podcast. If you don't like a topic don't watch it or unsub. Either is fine, bitching like a "Karen" will only result in me mocking you. You have been warned.
The science is in, more than a dozen studies spanning 7 decades 100% say mass making does not work. If you want to verify this, use google and pubmed, and you can start here. https://www.rcreader.com/commentary/masks-dont-work-covid-a-review-of-science-relevant-to-covide-19-social-policy
That is now what I want to discuss today though, I want to discuss the WHY behind the complete irrational embrace of mask policies. Believe it or not it is the same reason people hoarded toilet paper in the beginning.

You can learn more about these stoves at http://ecozoomstove.com/
Sorry about the lighting this was a quick video we did on my iPhone on the fly but wanted to share with you how we did up breakfast today. I got up and the power was out, out here when they promise back on by 11AM it generally means 2PM the next day.
So I decided to break out this stove which we had not yet used. I chunked in a handful of charcoal and fired it up. Soon I had my pot of water boiling, tossed in a few home made "coffee bags", like a big tea bag made with coffee and a coffee filter.
The stove was really humming by then so out came the old cast iron and a slab of bacon. We did end up firing up the genny so now I am sitting back with a cup of coffee watching TV and waiting to see when exactly power will be restored, being prepared rocks.

Last week we had about 4 inches of snow and ice, mostly ice. It totally coated the roads and shut down the city for about four days. Yesterday (7 days into it) we finally got a really warm day and major melt off. This is the result 20,000 plus gallons of water gently soaked into our land vs. running down a bar ditch. Today is a day where you start to feel like a parent sending there kids off to kindergarten for the first time. The ducklings are back outside and we have to decide if they spend the night outside tonight or not. We a projected overnight low of 42 degrees it is mostly likely they will.
We also discuss predators today. The reality is we have little pressure due to angry geese, big dogs, perimeter fencing with barbed wire and some reasonable density of neighbor housing, all of whom also have large dogs. Our biggest concern is hawks but they are not likely to bother them this close to the house under Max and Charlie's watchful eyes.
In other news Buddy the Goose laid her first egg and she and Joe are starting to nest a bit. We hope she goes broody, they don't always in their first year. Number 5 our two year old female goose seems very interested in the baby ducks and in a very non aggressive way, she likely has "mommy hormones" beginning to flow.
Two of the muscovy hens have been observing the same way so I am hoping they might go broody soon too. As I have said before, the best way to brood ducks in my view is don't, let a mom do it if she will oblige you.
Next up the USGI Shelter Half I mention here can be found often on eBay and in some surplus stores but they come and go. Here is a current listing, http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/111385268775?lpid=82&chn=ps if the seller is sold out just search ebay for "usgi shelter half". These are the old school ones I used 25 years ago. The military has better now but these can't be beat as tarps.
Another tough as nails tarp option can be found at Old Grouches Military Surplus. At this link http://store.oldgrouch.biz/ussutawomaca.html this are what is currently issued to the USMC.
Again though I can't say enough about the shelter halfs if you can find them. Sure they are smaller than these tarps, http://store.oldgrouch.biz/10cata.html but look at the price and they are made from the same material. We have beaten ours to death around here and they keep on working and holding up.
On growth the ducklings today weighed in at 8.225 ounces on a twenty duck sample. A 1.145 ounce gain for a total body weight gain of 16.17%. This is continuing the pattern of very high growth followed by slightly lower gains ever other day.
Running weight gain is as follows
Day One Gain 29%
Day Two Gain 17%
Day Three Gain 30%
Day Four Gain 18%
Day Five Gain 28%
Day Six Gain 6%
Day Seven Gain 25%
Day Nine Gain 16%
Note that since the first few days of their lives they were not weighed, the ducks are now 13 days old and collectively the fifty little girls have gained a total of more than 20 pounds in nine days!

Do you think a Sheriff should be able to write laws and then enforce them, because that is what current net neutrality regulations are.

I was skeptical on this one at first folks but it is pretty amazing. Larry Johnson is the founder of EZ Grow and his systems are amazing. You may have seen the basic grow pots or knock offs of them, but it is just scratching the surface.
He has full off grid systems that can grow anything from a back yard garden to a full on urban farm. You have to check this one out! I am definitely going to try to get this guy on TSP. Wait till you see the wind generating power system this guy invented! You can learn more about his systems at https://ezgrogarden.com/
Former Army tech Larry Johnson has spent his career improving computer and telephone systems so when he saw inefficiencies in how we grow our food, he decided to create a new system for farming your yard. His EZGro garden uses aquaponics, stacked towers, and custom pots to create a high-density vertical garden (HDVG) on as little land as a deck, rooftop, or parking space.
Johnson says the system will grow 700 plants, using 15 towers, in a space of just 2 by 18 feet. Today, he sells kits ranging from single tower patio gardens to 10-tower deck gardens to commercial-sized set-ups like those being used by a Miami football stadium for concession meals, by a Whole Foods Market in New Jersey, and by rooftop farmers in Lagos, Nigeria.
It all began in 1995 when Johnson began tinkering with his quad pot design, crafting a custom container strong enough to hold tomato plants with over 100 pounds of fruit. He then developed an irrigation system that feeds nutrient-rich water from the top of the towers, drips through the pots, and filters out through tubing below to be reused. This closed-loop system uses less than 10% of the water of a traditional garden.
To create a system robust enough for even off-grid farmers, Johnson has spent the last 2 decades developing his trihelix solar windmill. Solar panels are mounted on top of three turbines, known as the "Tri-Helix", which are twisted like DNA strands to catch even inconsistent wind (turbines start turning in winds of just 2mph).
