James Corbett and I have chosen one song from the Beatles' Help! Album. This song is featured as one of the rock videos in the celebrated film. It also happens to be one of my favorite Beatles songs. Since UMG Corporation mutes videos with original Beatles sound bytes, we had to choose a cover version to demonstrate the song to listeners who might not be familiar with the track. Paul Moody does a wonderful job of reproducing Beatles music authentically and faithfully. This is the second time we've made use of one of his videos so I want to give him props and link to his pages.

Although I put this video on the Pentatonic Theory playlist, it really goes for all diatonic scales and arpeggios. Sequences are a great way to add melodic motif, create a palpable pattern for the ear of the listener and a way to build up melodic tension leading to melodic relaxation.

Join us as James Corbett and I discuss the Beatles' 'This Boy.' A bit of discussion and a bit of music theory and a whole lotta fun!
[Note: I was required to mute the section from about 15:17 to 17:30 because of a glaringly false
copyright infringement claim. You can find the full video with no censorship at my Odysee Channel. There are many pluses to following me there. For example, the use of Beatles rock video clips that cannot be uploaded to this platform. The entire Time/Life series: The History Of Rock & Roll, which is a must-see series and which you cannot get here at YouTube without paying for it.]

? ????????? ???? (originally O Tannenbaum) is a German Christmas song. Based on a traditional folk song which was unrelated to Christmas, it became associated with the traditional Christmas tree by the middle of the 19th century and sung as a Christmas carol. The original lyrics do not actually refer to Christmas, or describe a decorated Christmas tree. Instead, they refer to the fir's evergreen quality as a symbol of constancy and faithfulness. The custom of the Christmas tree developed in the course of the 19th century, and the song came to be seen as a Christmas carol.
