Jaguar Land Rover has released the first details and accompanying images of the 2018MY Range Rover Sport. The new range includes not only a revamped SVR model with more power, but also JLR’s first plug-in hybrid model, the Range Rover Sport P400e.
Given JLR’s stated ambition with regards to electrification, the P400e is clearly an important step for the firm. It’s powered by a longitudinally mounted 2-litre Ingenium turbocharged petrol engine combined with a 85kW electric motor. The combustion engine is good for 296bhp alone, and the total system outputs are 399bhp and 472lb-ft of torque. Predictably emissions and economy figures are impressive, at least using the official method of measurement, standing at 64g/km and 101mpg.
The P400e’s 13kwh lithium-ion battery, mounted under the boot floor, is enough to provide a 31-mile electric-only range. There are two driving modes: a default Parallel Hybrid setting that best combines the two power sources, and an all-electric EV mode. In addition, the driver can choose a SAVE setting, which prevents the battery charge level falling below a set point, and a Predictive Energy Optimisation function, where GPS altitude data optimises the power source usage by taking into account the gradient of the road.
The vehicle’s battery can be completely charged in two-and three-quarter hours using a 32amp rapid charger, or a rather more leisurely seven-and-a-half hours using the standard 10amp charging cable. Predictably, the P400e is also the heaviest Sport in the range at 2,471kg, compared to 2,083kg for a Sport powered solely by the new 296bhp Ingenium petrol engine. However, it is only slightly heavier than the TDV8 variant, which weighs a chunky 2,443kg according to JLR’s scales. The P400e replaces the old SDV6 hybrid diesel model, and the new range also includes a revised 5-litre supercharged V8 petrol variant with peak power up from 503bhp to 518bhp. Gearboxes are once again eight-speed automatics, but there’s a new transfer case for the all-wheel drive system with a so-called ‘smart actuator’ rather than the old separate motor and ecu.
As for the SVR, that’s now powered by a 567bhp version of the venerable supercharged V8 (up from 543bhp), enabling a 0-60mph time of just 4.3-seconds and a top speed of 176mph. The plug in hybrid model is incidentally no slouch either, hitting 60mph from rest in 6.3-seconds and offering a 137mph top speed.

The dynamic debut of the new 911 GT3 RS demands a pretty special setting. Step forward the home of the world’s greatest road race.
Spanning just 572 km², the Isle of Man – or Mann – has been home to the world famous Tourist Trophy since 1907, each year drawing crowds of around 45,000 to watch one of the most fiercely contested events in the global racing calendar. The 60.73 km course pits man and bike against some of the most demanding roads on earth, requiring nerves of steel and an almost unimaginable amount of trust in the wheels beneath each rider.
Little wonder, then, that Porsche has chosen this magical isle for the dynamic debut of the latest version of the 911 GT3 RS. The bikes’ attributes over less-than-perfect roads, and the trust they engender in their riders, are qualities shared only with the GT3 RS. Designed to provide constant, detailed feedback to the driver, this Porsche thrives on the historic TT course.

The Kona Electric is ready to bank on the growing demand for crossovers in a zero-emissions package. In an attempt to cater a wider audience and attract more customers, Hyundai has developed two types of powertrains, with different outputs, ranges, and of course, prices.
The entry-level Kona Electric features an electric motor good for 133 horsepower (99 kilowatts) and an instant torque of 291 pound-feet (395 Newton-meters). It comes with a 39.2-kWh battery pack with enough juice for a maximum range of 300 kilometers (186 miles) in the new Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP), which is widely considered as being significantly more relevant than the outgoing New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).
Step up to the range-topping Kona Electric and Hyundai will reward you with 201 hp (150 kW) and the same amount of torque as the base model. Thanks to its much bigger 64-kWh battery, the electric crossover will have a range of up to 470 km (292 miles) as per WLTP.
Once the battery is depleted, it will take around 6 hours and 10 minutes to fully recharge the 39.2-kWh pack whereas the larger 64-kWh pack will need roughly 9 hours and 40 minutes. Thankfully, Hyundai has implemented a quick-charge facility for those in a hurry. Using the 100-kW DC fast charger, both flavors of the Kona Electric will “fill up” the batteries to an 80-percent level in just 54 minutes.
As far as performance is concerned, the base Kona Electric does the sprint to 62 mph (100 kph) in a decent 9.3 seconds. The beefier version completes the same task in 7.6 seconds, so it’s almost like a hot hatch. Both top out at 104 mph (167 kph).

When Rolls-Royce announced three years ago that it would launch Cullinan, it did so in the knowledge that its customers around the world had asked it to build “The Rolls-Royce of SUVs”, with luxury, performance and usability not seen before in the SUV market. Many of these customers were younger, very successful high-net-worth individuals who are heavily engaged in the experience economy, and wanted a Rolls-Royce that would take them to the ends of the Earth in ultimate luxury.
Automotive mobility has always been a fast moving and dynamic business, with new concepts – such as SUVs – appearing with great regularity. But those new concepts need to be perfected in order to be adopted by those customers who will accept no compromise – the patrons of true luxury. Hence the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
“History set our precedent, and today Rolls-Royce answers its call to action,” comments Müller-Ötvös. “Our answer to the visionaries, adventurers, explorers and those who believe in the supremacy of liberty is the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.”

The Luke Bryan Suburban concept is a rolling ode to camouflage, country music and the South. Chevy's goal was to have a vehicle that had both the utility of a truck and the closed body and extra seating of an SUV.
The concept is based on a standard 2018 Chevy Suburban. As such, it still has a 5.3-liter V8 making 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. The six-speed automatic sends power to all four wheels. With its trailering package, the Luke Bryan Suburban is capable of towing up to 8,000 pounds. The engine uses a Chevrolet Performance 5.3-liter cold-air intake for a few extra horses. Other mechanical upgrades include six-piston Brembo front brakes, a suspension lift, skid plates, tow hooks and 22-inch wheels with 35-inch tires.
