Living a superficial, upper-middle class life with his mundane, flimsy facade of a family, a mediocre psychiatrist (Ron Jeremy) finds himself stuck with an unfaithful wife (Lisa B.), who's cheating upon him with his best friend (George Payne) and also their daughter's quasi-boyfriend (Sean Eilliott). Thrown into the mix is said budding, but "invisible" daughter (Tigr), who's covertly exploring her own sexuality in all manner of bizarre and dangerous ways. Of course, for his part, Ron is cheating with a slew of prostitutes and his clingy secretary (Copper Penny), who happens to also be banging Payne, as well. On top of it all, Ron finds himself harassed throughout the film (during cut-scenes) by a large, talking white light, the identity of which is fairly easy to figure out, though it isn't formally revealed until the end of the flick. Such is the case in "Scoundrels", a very good, 1982 release from Command Video and acclaimed director, Cecil Howard. Back in its day, this production won all of the top awards at AVN...and for good reason. Indeed, in many ways, it serves as a sad (though strangely sexy) commentary on the surface-deep, ho-hum, typical, family scenario that has developed in modern times and that, despite initial appearances to the contrary, is fully dysfunctional. Everyone's fucking around on everyone else, everyone has deep-rooted sexual desires that are only expressible through surreptitious, inappropriate channels...and everyone's pretending to be content, yet is truly miserable. Clearly, this isn't the typical setup for a porn flick, even from the more plot-driven Golden Era, and it's these darker (and deeper) themes that make it so interesting and so unique. Of course, the settings and the sets are authentic, which is almost essential for a film of this type, and the acting is top-notch. The plot is also exceptional, though the ending could have been better played...it's a touch predictable and a touch abrupt. Sex-wise, the action is generally hot, fits in perfectly with the storyline, and is captured quite well. Everyone does their part across the boards. As such, fans of Cecil Howard, the Golden Age classics, plot-driven features, and/or pessimistically dark porn are going to want to check this one out. It's a worthy watch, and it's certainly different. In terms of the sex, Scene One finds Ron Jeremy's buddy, George Payne, slipping it to his bored, dissatisfied wife, the short-haired brunette, Lisa B., on a blue and white, satin-covered bed (vaginal, titty-fuck ; pop on her breasts and chest). Scene Nine brings together a patient of Ron's, the sultry Anna Turner, and the legendary Sharon Mitchell, with whom she has an affair, for some girl-on-girl fun on a sofa in the former's apartment (tongues, dildo by Mitch on Turner).
