Gearbox fluids - tips on filling a 1994 Ford Econovan manual transmission
Filling transmissions with fluid isn't always as easy as engine oil. In Max, my 1994 Ford Econovan, the filler hole is in a really awkward position. In this short video I give some tips on filling the gearbox and how to make sure that you don't over or under fill it.

Installing door locks is part of my construction class now and then. I developed this stand alone teaching resource which allows multiple students the chance to practice installing a door lock without destroying multiple doors.
It used to be free standing but I recently made it a permanent setup on the outside of my new construction learning space workshop.
I explain and demonstrate how it allows for multiple students to use it for practice.

Now that I've erected the reclaimed shed my wife found, I've decided to frame out the structure to provide added strength to it. I'm using reclaimed treated pine that my wife located near my work that I collected late last year. I did a bit of resawing of the framing to create 2x2's so I didn't lose too much interior space, and because I didn't have as many long pieces as I'd hoped.

Part 3 of my reclaimed hardwood side gate. I'm cleaning up all my short offcuts of the decking I reclaimed to use on the side partition which is about 14" wide.
I wish I had a small lunchbox planer, as it would have saved so much time, compared to using my hand power planer.
This was also one of the first tests for the old drill press I scored, using it to do repeatable holes on a jig - such a timesaver.

My wife asked for a sturdy, low side table for next to the bed. She said she'd like a rustic looking log one like she had seen online so I said I'd give it a go as I have loads of logs in the yard.
It measures about 10 & 1/2" (265mm) in diameter and 12" (300mm) high and weighs a butt-load. It's finished with several coats of home-mixed shellac.
Music is "March On" by Ethan Meixsell from the YouTube library.
I don't necessarily recommend all of the methods I use in making this, especially if you're unfamiliar with your tools. I'm very comfortable with my tools, so I'll use them how I please.
