Diagram available at http://electronzap.com/nor-logic-gate/ The NOR gate is one of the 6 logic gates important to some electronic circuits. I show here, one way to build a demonstration circuit of the NOR gate in a step by step format for those not used to building circuits on breadboards while looking at a schematic diagram. I used a 220Ω resistor as it limits the current through the LED at well below 20mA. Also when one or both switches are closed, the resistor is effectively connected directly to the 5V power supply and won't get too hot. It is rated at 1/4W and will dissipate less than 1/8W of power. It's generally recommended to keep a resistors wattage in a circuit, half way or less of it's rated value. Any higher value resistor can be used.
