Standing at six-foot-two and weighing-in at 220 pounds, male-to-female transgender handballer Hannah Mouncey is dominating at the women’s Asian Championships in Japan.
Mouncey literally towers over opponents and overpowers them in reach, strength, speed, and weight, but has been allowed to compete as a woman despite the incredible advantage.
With Mouncey leading the drive, Australia is back in the hunt for an Asian Women’s Handball championship for the first time in years.
Before his transition to female in May 2016, Mousey played for the Australian men’s handball team.
Due to Mouncey’s weight, height, and testosterone levels, he was barred from entering the Australian Football League, Women’s (AFLW) draft, last year. Mouncey wrote a piece for The Guardian in September blasting the AFL for their regulations. He noted specifically that the weight regulation is a form of “body shaming” and a blow to all women, transgender or not.

Former Conservative candidate Heather Leung says she plans to run as an Independent in her riding of Burnaby North-Seymour, despite the fact her affiliation will still be listed as Conservative due to Elections Canada rules.
When a party kicks out a candidate after Elections Canada's Sept. 30 deadline, their name still appears next to the party affiliation on printed ballots.
"I want everyone to know that you can still vote for me by putting a check mark by Heather Leung on the ballot even though Conservative appears by my name," said Leung in a statement issued Monday.
Leung was booted from the party last week over comments she made about the LGBTQ community.

Concerned parents have successfully fought against the implementation of a controversial new sex education program for elementary school children.
California’s Fremont Unified School District board voted against the controversial sex ed curriculum, which would have taught elementary school students about sexual orientation, gender identity and rape to students in grades 4-6.
The school district now finds itself at odds with California state law– the Healthy Youth Act - enacted in 2016.

GEORGETOWN, Ma. — A preschool in Georgetown, Ma., isn’t allowing students to refer to their friends as “best friends,” saying the language doesn’t promote inclusivity.
WBZ reports at least one mom doesn’t feel the rule is appropriate.
Julia Hartwell has a four-year-old daughter named Julia, who like most kids, has a best friend.
“She said ‘you know, so and so, you’re my best buddy’,” said Christine Hartwell. “The teacher told her she couldn’t say that in school. I think it’s ridiculous. Children who are four years old speak from their heart, so they should be able to call kids anything.”
The preschool offered an explanation to Hartwell’s parents, saying “the term best friend can lead other children to feel excluded, and it can ultimately lead to the formation of cliques and outsiders.”

Two Arizona calligraphers at the heart of yet another religious liberty battle won a major victory Monday with the Arizona Supreme Court’s ruling that business owners have the right to choose not to provide certain products to same-sex “weddings.”
Joanna Duka and Breanna Koski own Brush & Nib Studio, a small business founded on Christian values. They say they serve any customer regardless of sexuality but draw the line at being forced to produce custom messages endorsing events that violate their beliefs.
