Tails is a "Amnesic" Linux distribution which is designed to keep your privacy intact. It is intended to be installed on to a USB device making it fully portable. It uses the Tor network to help keep yourself protected from tracking and surveillance.
Continuing with the first looks of the Linux Mint 20 Beta's we now have the #MATE edition. It includes most of the new features you'll find in the Cinnamon version apart from any features that are Cinnamon specific. In this video I take a quick look at the overall desktop set up and included applications. I also managed to test out the Warpinator program that allows you to share files between other computers running Warpinator over the local network. I'm very impressed with this edition of Linux Mint and look forward to giving it full review when it gets it's final release.

GeckoLinux is a distribution based on openSUSE. It aims to make itself different from openSUSE by delivering a more user friendly experience out of the box. To achieve this it uses additional repositories and has media codecs pre-installed. GeckoLinux also drops the standard openSUSE installer in favour of a live environment where you can install the distro via Calamares. They offer images based on both Tumbleweed and Leap which allows users to choose from a rolling or static release model. You can download a number of different pre-packaged ISO's with various desktops on offer. In this video I take a quick look at their rolling release using the GNOME desktop environment.

In this video I take an updated look at MX Linux which is currently on version 19.2. MX Linux is a distribution based on Debian and uses XFCE as it's default desktop environment. In this video run through the very useful built in MX tools and also take a look at MX-Fluxbox. I also briefly take a quick look at how the Budgie desktop works using the MX Package Installer to install it. Overall I'm very impressed with how far this distribution has come since I last looked at it.

On episode 2 of The Distro Spinner the wheel granted me a week with Salient OS. This video includes my final thoughts on this #Linux distribution and whether or not I think it's a suitable candidate to be my daily driver. As it's a gaming focused distribution I included a couple of gaming benchmarks for good measure.

For the past few days I've been testing out Arch Linux as my daily driver. I'm using KDE as my desktop environment with the Kwin script Krohnkite which brings windows tiling to KDE. I find this setup suits the way I like to use my desktop and the workflow feels very efficient for what I need to get done. I'll probably tweak it more to my taste as time goes on but I'm pretty impressed with it so far!

Linuxfx 10.2, also known as Windowsfx is a distribution based on Ubuntu and uses Cinnamon as it's desktop environment. It's designed to mimic the windows 10 look and feel and does a pretty good job of it. It comes preinstalled with some well known Windows applications like Skype and Teams. It also included wine out of the box to aid you in installing Windows programs on #Linux. Towards the end of the video I give my opinion on Windows Linux clones in general.
