In 2015, LBRY is born, a blockchain-based platform that offers users a global decentralized library and, at the same time, a market for library works, whether these are books, videos, video games or any other type of digitized file. Their main promise is that creators will be able to collect the proceeds they choose for their work, without intermediaries, while fans will be able to view and purchase these works using LBRY Credits (LBC), the native cryptocoin of the platform.

Their main promise is that creators will be able to collect the proceeds they choose for their work, without intermediaries, while fans will be able to view and purchase these works using LBRY Credits (LBC), the native cryptocoin of the platform.
Now, finally, after two years of development, LBRY is being released to the public, starting with the developers of GitHub. As mentioned before, its first beta (trial) came to the first creators and fans in July last year by invitation, and since then it was possible to access the waiting list with referral system, or join the creators of the platform content or donate space on the personal hard drive to help maintain it. Until October 2016, when this version was released for Windows, LBRY had about 5000 users.
But since March 15 will expand much more, since the developers of GitHub can enter and test it, for which they are also receiving 250 LBC. On the other hand, those who have participated in the referral system will have priority access next April along with the LBRY Credits they have earned for each registered friend; And, finally, the beta version of LBRY will be considered totally open for anyone wishing to join since May this year.
LBRY already counts on some important authors, among them the film company Oscilloscope Laboratories, producer of films like the Embrace of the Serpent, nominated to the Oscar 2015. Also, next to this launch, LBRY included in its platform 20 thousand academic conferences branded as illegal on the YouTube account of the University of Berkeley, thus saving them from being erased without any endorsement.
In the next, as Smith revealed, LBRY will have other test releases over the summer and anyone will be able to access and run the platform to create applications over their network. In addition, users on the waiting list can still refer to others until April to win some LBCs with which to start trading in this large decentralized library.
