Keiichi really trimmed down that rant, hey? We don't know how Takano ended up so suspicious but one thing we know for sure is that she's definitely not evil.

We discuss parts 1-4 of Emma Stonex's 'The Lamplighters', with its haunting lyricism here to spook Herds off the scent of truth. Three men disappear from 'The Maiden', leaving the perfect mystery in their wake. Twenty years later, writer Dan Sharp shows up to unravel the case, speaking with the women who were left behind. Raising many questions about the genre we inhabit, there's a lot to soak in here, and the book doesn't make it easy, even though the effort is worth it.
We're also joined by Associate Professor of Narratology, Dr. Tom van Laer, from the University of Sydney, to talk about how the shifting perspectives and work the book asks of you engages and endears it to its audience.

Rena's seemingly impulsive decisions lead to the best development so far in 6 arcs, but perhaps this was all a plan.

We discuss chapters 1-4, and later 5, of Szu-Yen Lin's impossible-house impossible-crime novel, 'Death in the House of Rain'. Translated by the author himself, the House of Rain is an enormous mansion in the shape of the Chinese character for rain. Bodies keep dropping in mysterious, small rooms around the House of Rain. Cranial injuries galore, who is bloodthirsty enough to be rid of these young women? Herds also challenges Flex to one extra chapter to see how that alters the scope of the crimes.
Flex is also joined by Joanna Jenkins and Stuart Black to talk about corporate crime fiction, after the release of their books 'How to Kill a Client', and 'The Signatory', respectively. Thank you to Allen & Unwin, Interactive Publication and DMCPR for providing copies and helping arrange this panel.

We discuss chapters 6-8 of Janice Hallett's bizarre media-meta-fiction 'Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels'. Amanda Bailey's toying with Oliver Menzies has taken the investigation to a new extreme. Oliver's delusions are pushing him to action, and as Amanda approaches the actual truth, he fabricates a whole new one, and takes action. How do the disparate pieces of both fact and fiction collide in the ominous night that became the Alperton Angels suicide? Only a few players know all, and they will not let their work be undone so lightly.
We're also joined by Janice herself to talk a bit about the construction of the novel, the inspiration behind the characters, and how we view all-powerful entities. Also check out Janice's article on True Crime writers in The Guardian.
Check out Part One and Part Two here!
Thank you to Viper Books for their assistance in arranging our interview with Janice.

We're joined by Brad Friedman of 'Ah Sweet Mystery' to discuss chapters 1-5 of Yukito Ayatsuji's second outing in his Mansion Murder series. Entering into a relentless writing pace that saw two books published in 1988, Ayatsuji welcomes us into the struggle between Shimada Kyoshi and the enigmatic, deceased Seiji Nakamura. Every year, the son of a famous artist begrudgingly invites guests to view his father's collection. One year ago, two people died and one disappeared during the visit, and yet the troupe of remaining guests returns, as fate summons a second doom.
We also speak with Dennis Altman about his debut Crime Fiction novel, 'Death in the Sauna'. Thank you to Benson PR and Shute the Messenger for providing copies on behalf of Clouds of Magellan Press.
