(This is a Mirror for Tristen/Nerdette's Newsstand video. In the off chance hers is taken down due to the subject matter, I've been given permission to upload this)
It's been a while since I've done a crowdfunded comic review, but this one is worth the wait. The newest book from one of the best, more reliable, crowdfunded comics creative teams out there with a crossover between Kamen America and Black Hops, which they've been building to for a while.
Apex Moth has hired Vermilion Masquerade to help them unleash an epic sized Cryptid! Carley (and later Misha) team up with Black Hops to try and stop them all. There are twists, and turns, and great action. Everyone gets a moment to shine (except Kimiko who's not in the story) and it progresses things for both titles.
This was just a great new installment that I cannot recommend enough! Get your hand on these books, you won't be disappointed!

Ingrid & I start a Frank Miller movie marathon starting with the first Sin City movie! He and Robert Rodriguez do such an incredible job translating Frank's comics to the big screen! One of the best 1:1 adaptations out there! Check it out!
In this quartet of neo-noir tales, a mysterious salesman (Josh Hartnett) narrates a tragic story of co-dependency, while a musclebound vigilante (Mickey Rourke) tears his way through the criminal underworld in search of his lost love (Jaime King). In another part of the city, a grizzled cop (Bruce Willis) foils the ambitions of a child-killer (Nick Stahl), and an ex-prostitute (Brittany Murphy) evades her ex-pimp (Benicio del Toro) with the help of her new boyfriend, Dwight (Clive Owen).

On Today's Lesson of Pro Teaches n00bs, @adeadguy joins me as continue going over Superman/Batman with Joe Casey's The Big Noise! Unfortunately labeled as a lost Our World's At War Aftermath story...it doesn't tie in at all. What it tells is a decent story though!
Superman and Batman must contend with a shape-shifting alien who is dead set on continuing a thousand-year-old war against Superman's home planet of Krypton.

Finally, we come to the last movie of the Showa era, and one of our favorites, Terror of Mechagodzilla! And man, are we sad that it didn't get appreciated in its time, because it is TOP NOTCH!
First of all, the human plot takes up most of this movie. But this isn't a complaint; it's one of the best in the entire series! Rife with family drama, scientific ethical dilemmas, revenge plots, and some real tear jerkers! Godzilla is also back in form as the guy we knew originally, someone who doesn't give a DAMN and is absolutely vicious! While the fights aren't great here, they have some real emotional punch that even brought us close to tears! This movie just barely edged out the previous one for being our favorite of the Mecha G Duology. It's hard to really even think of any complaints!
This was also the last one Ishiro Honda did and he went out with a bang...it is just a crime that this is STILL, to this day (even with Inflation) the lowest box office movie in the franchise! No wonder he felt disinfranchised to refuse doing any of the Heisei movies until it was too late.
Either way, this era ends on a powerful note! And We couldn't ask for better

Well 2018 wraps up in a few hours, so I guess it's time for me to explain what I'm looking forward to next year, what video games, movies, and Comics.
And as I worked on this episode I realized something...a LOT of things, movies especially, feel like I'm just...obligated to want to go to some of them. Many of the movies are wrapping up a trilogy, or a long going story arc, or it's a franchise I love and want to make sure it's done well, etc etc. It doesn't detract me from seeing them but...it doesn't make me more excited either.

On Today's Lesson of Pro Teaches n00bs, @ComicsLeague joins me as we go over an interesting Superman Elseworlds. Son of Superman, the ORIGINAL Jon Kent! Superman has been dead for 15 years, but his son takes over for his old man!
Fifteen years after the disappearance of Superman, Clark Kent and Lois Lane's teenage son, Jon Kent, learns that he is the son of the Man of Steel, and has suddenly inherited his powers. Following his father's footsteps, Jon joins a rebel organization, that fights against the now completely corrupt U.S. government, and their plan for total economic segregation.

In our next lesson of Pro Teaches n00bs, sadly Bianca won't be joining us but we have Raymond and Ingrid returning and a new Student (But returning guest) Alex!
Today's lesson will be on DC's Trinity, Superman Batman and Wonder Woman, and their three One Year Later stories that were told after the events of Infinite Crisis.
These three tales each tell how their respected heroes made their big comeback after being gone a year. While Batman just dives right in, Superman and Wonder Woman both take their time, to varying effects. All were amazingly written and spectacularly drawn! Come and see what they're about and what the class thinks of them.

Back again with another Marvel/DC crossover, this one follows up on the last one I did. Last time I talked about Darkseid and Galactus, this time around I'm talking about the heroes they deal with! That's right! DC's premiere hero teams up with Marvel's Premiere family as I go over Superman/Fantastic Four: Infinite Destruction!
Written and Drawn by Dan Jurgens, this amazing giant sized (literally the book is huge) book has Superman receive a mysterious message seemingly from his father telling him Galactus destroyed Krypton. He goes to meet the Fantastic Four about the Devourer of Worlds when the Cyborg Superman (Himself the sole survivor of a twisted version of the four) appears before Superman is turned into Galactus newest Herald and Reed is abducted. Can the remaining members of the four work with Hank Henshaw to save Reed and Superman? Can Superman be restored? Come and find out
