The ponies falls through the wood and screams as they lands on the floor, frightening Spike and Rarity even more. They're terrified when they stands up, and they screams for Sonic. Twilight looks at her reflection in a barrel of water and recites a spell: "By night one way, by day another. This shall be the norm until older princess find love's first kiss and then take love's true form." She tells Spike and Rarity that when they were little girls a witch cast a spell on them; every night they becomes "this, this horrible, ugly beasts"; they were placed in a tower to await the day Twilight's true love would rescue them. The Princesses sits down and tells Spike and Rarity that it's why Twilight has to marry Eggman tomorrow before the suns sets and he sees her and Fluttershy like this. Twilight cries, and then Rarity and Spike tries to console her. Spike says that they're ugly, but adds that they're only looks like this at night, and that Sonic is ugly all the time. Twilight replies that they're a princesses, and it's not how a princesses should look. Rarity suggests that Twilight shouldn't marry Eggman. Fluttershy insists that she has to, because only her true love's first kiss can break the spell. Rarity tells them that Twilight and Sonic have a lot in common.
Sonic walks back to the windmill, holding a sunflower. He's rehearsing what he will say to Princess Twilight when he gives it to her. When he climbs the steps of the windmill, he overhears Twilight telling Fluttershy, Spike and Rarity that she just can't marry whomever she wants, and to take a good look at her. She asks them, "Who could ever love a beast so hideous and ugly? Princess and ugly don't go together. That's why I can't stay here with Sonic. My only chance to live happily ever after is to marry my true love." She tells them that it's just how it should be. Sonic becomes disheartened because he thinks Twilight was calling him ugly, and then throws the sunflower down and storms off towards Duloc. Twilight tells them that it's the only way to break the spell. Rarity and Spike tells them that they has to tell Sonic the truth and starts to leave, but Twilight says that no one must ever know and makes Spike and Rarity promise not to tell anyone. They say that she should tell Sonic, then goes outside. Twilight opens the door and looks around, but only sees the sunflower and takes it inside. Rarity and Spike looks around then sleeps by the campfire.
