In recent years there has been a clear revival of a political philosophy or coherent set of beliefs, which currently tends to go by the name of ‘libertarianism’ or (among intellectuals) ‘classical liberalism’. This tends to be identified with a particular economic perspective, centred on free markets, but in fact that is only one part of it and in many ways a secondary one. At the moment there are two related problems or obstacles. One is that these ideas tend to be associated with conservatism and a set of other ideas, which in fact are often opposed to them. The other apparently trivial but in fact significant is that of the name given to them. The argument is that it is time to revive the label that they had in the past, that of ‘Individualism’. The history of this term and movement is set out and the benefits of reviving it. The application of the ideas to the present are also set out.

Few people are aware of Marvel Whiteside Parsons (a.k.a Jack Parsons), co-founder of Jet Propulsion Laboratories. Parsons made major contributions to rocket development, particularly in the area of solid fuel propellant. The solid motors on the Space Shuttle and the motors in the Minuteman missile were based on the solid propellant technology that he invented. He was a founding member of Aerojet Corporation, and he even has a crater on the dark side of the moon named after him. So why isn’t he as celebrated as the other founding fathers of spaceflight? And what was that about the occult? (http://www.spacesafetymagazine.com/aerospace-engineering/rocketry/jack-parsons-occult-roots-jpl/)

Background
Mr Michael Davies draws on social, cultural and political history to explain the development of the French State, prosperous yet fraught with inequities. He examines the role of the Masons and devotees of the Enlightenment, who hoped to undermine the authority of the monarchy and the Church and extend the influence of their own ideas. The French Revolution: The Background
The Reign of Terror
The noble rhetoric of "Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite" degenerates into a scenario of terror and death. Violence is the weapon used to de-Christianize France, the eldest daughter of the Church. Reduced to the status of a state agency, religion is repressed and Church property confiscated. Eventually driven underground, priests are persecuted and churches desecrated. Mr. Michael Davies describes the "The French Revolution: The Reign of Terror."
The Rising of the Vendee
Mr. Michael Davies describes the rising of the Vendee during the French Revolution. Under the emblem of the Sacred Heart, Catholic Vendeans of Northwestern France rise to defend the Church. Facing the Revolutionary Government's policy of extermination, the Vendeans suffer heroically for God and their country.
The 1917 Revolution gave birth to both the reality and the myth of the Bolsheviks and the democratic left. The social democrats rejected the violence which was part of the communist party. They claimed to follow a democratic path to socialism. They turned Marx into a wise man that should not be taken too literally.
A coalition against fascists arose. Social democrats made common cause with the communists. There is reason to suspect that Stalin knew what he was doing bringing Hitler to power. Since the 1930s the enemy of the left has been fascism. The social democrats successfully split from the communists. The end of the cold war looks like the end of WWII. The left won the cold war. The right disappeared.
